Bedford Falls Book Fair Postponed

The Durham Library Learning Commons staff works daily to empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. One piece of that puzzle includes offering a collection of diverse books that students want to read. Book Fairs get students excited about books and support a culture of reading. Additionally, Book Fairs help fund library programs.

The Durham Library Learning Commons is hosting its first ever Bedford Falls Book Fair  Monday, March 16 – Friday, March 20! Monies earned from the Library’s Book Fairs fund reading promotions and programs throughout the year including Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl, Lunch Bunch Book Club, and Library Media Committee. Student winners of October’s “Spooky Books Trivia” were treated with goodies from fundraising dollars. Students who complete the annual Summer, Fall, Holiday, Winter, and Spring break Reading Challenges through Biblionasium are treated to gifts including paperback books and posters, pizza parties, and sweet treats once they return from break.  Library displays, décor and signage, device charging stations, the multimedia table, comfy student seating, and interlocking tables have all been purchased with monies earned through book fairs. Every penny of the proceeds benefits Durham students, so please consider shopping the Bedford Falls Book Fair March 4th through March 8th and helping cultivate a culture of reading in the Durham community.
