Students are in the final stretch as Quarter 2 ends next week! Quarter 2 Report Cards will be available in ParentVue and StudentVue Thursday, January 5, 2018.  Parents if you still do not have access to ParentVue please come by our guidance department to obtain your access code. Please note that students have this report feature in StudentVue. Jingle Jam Fun will take place … Wednesday December 20, 2017! Grade level teams and hallways are responsible for the organization of the logistics to carry out the Jingle Jam Fun! Fun will include: Holiday Shows, Holiday Tunes, Crafts, Games, and Snacks (Students may bring their own card and board games and snacks.)  Students are to show Respect, Effort, and Pride, exhibiting desirable behavior to earn participation in this event.  That criteria was shared with students and notification sent home to parents in the progress envelopes as well. Upcoming Concerts at 7PM:

  • 6th Orchestra Winter Concert Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at WHS.
  • 7th and 8th Band Winter Concert Thursday, December 14, 2017 at WHS.
  • Note: All Grades Chorus Winter Concert – Rescheduled! Monday, December 19, 2017 in the ECMS Theater @ 9:30AM. We invite parents to attend.
  • Chamber Orchestra SWAW on Saturday December 16, 2017 @ 11am.

“The ECMS Community Outreach Committee would like everyone to know that our ECMS Angel Tree is here in the Front Office. We have had an overwhelming response of generosity and just about all of the angels are in the hands of givers. There may be a couple remaining, but if you are still in the spirit of giving, gift cards are always a great universal gift and you can make sure to get those to Ms. Reade in the front office and we will pass them on to the Outreach Committee. Remember that all gifts from angels are due back to East Cobb Middle School by Friday, December 8, 2017.”

The Pebblebrook High School information session will be tomorrow morning, December 5, 2017 in the Conference Room at ECMS. Students have been provided passes and should attend accordingly.

Important information was sent home in an envelope along with the signature page for you to sign indicating you have viewed your student’s report and other accompanying documents. In the envelope you also received a letter explaining the Cobb County School District’s updated promotion/retention policy.  Parents if you still do not have access to ParentVue please come by our guidance department to obtain your access code. Please note that students have this report feature in StudentVue.

Parents you have asked, so… order forms are now available for our ECMS Team Wood Relay for Life t-shirts.  The order form will be included in the report envelope and on our website.  T-shirts are $25 and money is due to our school no later than Monday, November 27, 2017.  T-shirts orders will be placed on the afternoon of November 27, 2017.

Tickets will need to be purchased for anyone who will be attending.  Tickets sales begin this week and are pre-sale only. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

November 7, 2017 is a Professional Learning Day. Students are not to report to school.

East Cobb Middle School’s Title I Parent Workshop: A Parent’s Guide to Understanding Assessments: November 9, 2017 – 6pm – Main Conference Room

7th Grade Parents: IOWA scores will be sent home with students on Wednesday, November 8, 2017

Campus Clean-up is Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 10AM until noon; sponsored by Beta Club. We need help cleaning up our school grounds, spreading pine straw, planting flowers, etc. Come on out and help us show pride in our campus and lend a hand if you can!

Title I is planning a “Learning Launch” event in collaboration with Office Max  on November 11, 2017 at the Austell location on the East-West Connector from 10AM to 1PM.

East Cobb Middle School’s Title I Parent Workshop: A Parent’s Guide to Understanding Assessments:
November 9, 2017 – 6pm – Main Conference Room

Help sessions are at 8:15 every morning! If students arrive at school prior to 8:45 they will report to help sessions in the appropriate grade level.

Monday – Language Arts
Tuesday – Science
Wednesday – Study Skills in the Theater
Thursday – Math
Friday – Social Studies

Students with extra-curricular activities/practices that are not scheduled for 4:30PM MUST go home and be brought back to their activity or practice. There is no supervision after 4:30 PM.

On Tuesday, October 31, 2017, for a $2 donation is Pajama Day! No masks or costumes are permitted. Just pajamas (that comply with appropriate dress code and proper shoes).

Early Release:  Monday, October 16th – Friday, October 20th!  Students will be dismissed at 1:30PM.

Report cards will be distributed during conference week October 16, 2017 – October 20, 2017. Report cards and any other documents will be sent home on October 20, 2017 if a conference is not held.. The Scholastic Book Fair is here and will be open during school hours through Thursday, October 19, 2017. Come by and buy great books and literacy items for yourself and make some teacher wishes come true! Wish lists are posted at the fair by grade level.

Week of October 9th

8th Grade students will take the PSAT 8/9 assessment on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. It is a one-day administration.

Students will have an early release day on Thursday, October 12, 2017. We will dismiss at 1:30PM.

Quarter 1 ended Friday, October 6, 2017. Report cards will be distributed during conference week October 16, 2017 – October 20, 2017. Conference Week letters were sent home prior to Fall Break. If no conference is scheduled, report cards and any other documents will be sent home on October 20, 2017. During conference week (October 16, 2017 – October 20, 2017), students will be dismissed at approximately 1:30PM.

Also on Thursday, October 12, 2017 please join us for Literacy Night @ 6PM! Some great literacy activities have been planned by our Language Arts and Social Studies teachers. The Book Fair will also be open on Literacy Night and will be available through Thursday, October 19, 2017. Literacy Night would be a great night to shop for great books at our Book Fair. ECMS Clash of Classes Spirit Nights is this week at Chick-Fil-A. Each class will have one designated day: 6th Grade on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, 7th Grade on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 and 8th Grade on Thursday, October 12, 2017. Families, friends and staff can go to Chick-Fil-A ANY time during those days and ask that their sale be designated for East Cobb Middle and the grade level. Chick-Fil-A will keep track of the totals and the winning grade level will have Chick-Fil-A biscuits delivered to them. This is a fun, friendly competition between grades with the added benefit of raising money to give back to our Foundation for ECMS.
