Early Release – Wednesday, August 30, 2017! Students will be dismissed TODAY at 1:30PM.

Please plan to join us on September 1, 2017 at 5:30PM for FRIDAY Night Lights and Food Trucks! Wear your Wildcat Spirit Wear and come support the WHS vs South Cobb HS football game for tailgating, food trucks and fun!

Parents please be mindful that when Wheeler High School has home games (football, basketball, or any sport); students are to go home first and then brought back to Wheeler High Schools for games. Games begin well after the middle school day ends and there is no supervision at East Cobb Middle School or Wheeler High School to supervise students prior to the games.  It is also suggested and highly encouraged that parents attend the games with their children.

Quarter 1 Progress Reports will be distributed on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Parents you may keep the report, however please sign on the appropriate line for progress #1 to indicate review and receipt. Your child will need to return the envelope to their homeroom teacher.

PTSA/Foundation kicked off the “Invest with Positivity Campaign” in efforts to enhance educational opportunities and experiences for students and staff at East Cobb Middle School. No candy sales or wrapping paper; just simply make a contribution with a 100% of you donation supporting our school.  Parents and Donors can write a check and put it in the safe in the main hallway near locker stocker or donate online at www.ecmsptsa.com and click on Make Your Investment.

Also at www.ecmsptsa.com sign up to volunteer.  Just click on Volunteer Opportunities.  Again, parents remember that ECMS wants and needs you here.

The ECMS Community Outreach Committee needs your help! Our Food Pantry needs to be stocked for the new school year.  To support our students and families in need within the Wildcat Nation, please visit the PTSA website where you can find a sign up with specific requests.  Donated items may be dropped off in the Front Office at East Cobb Middle School from now until Friday September 22, 2017.

On September 11th and 12th at 11:45AM, 8th grade students will attend a Cobb County School District Magnet School Presentation in the East Cobb Middle Theater This presentation is for our 8th grade students.  Parents are invited to attend.

What an amazing experience…  Eclipse 2017!

Parents if your child out of school on Monday, August 21, 2017 due to the eclipse, the absence is considered excused; please send your child to school with a note and that absence will be marked excused.

Parents Nurse Braswell has some clinic needs! If you are willing and able, she needs tissue (Kleenex), snack size Ziploc bags, paper towels, single wrap saltine crackers, cases of water (full size), feminine products, and OdoBan (deodorizer).

Greetings from The ECMS Admin Team and welcome to East Cobb Middle School for the 2017-2018 school year! We are off to a great start at East Cobb Middle School! This is our final year on Holt Road as we are anxiously awaiting our new building! There is always lots going on… To stay informed, stay tuned for Principal Young’s Monday Message (dial-out), the school’s website, this blog and your child’s teachers’ blogs!

Help session are at 8:15 every morning! If students arrive at school prior to 8:45 they will report to help sessions in the appropriate grade level.

Monday – Language Arts
Tuesday – Science
Wednesday – Study Skills in the Theater
Thursday – Math
Friday – Social Studies

East Cobb Middle School will participate in the outdoor viewing of the solar eclipse on Monday August 21, 2017.  Permission slips were sent home with students this past Friday, August 11, 2017. In order for your child to participate; you must sign the permission form and have your child return it to his or her teacher by this Friday, August 18, 2017. Students who do not return the permission form signed by a parent/guardian will have an alternate activity inside the school building during the eclipse.

This Thursday August 17, 2017 we will have a General PTSA Open House at 5:15 in the Media Center followed by Back to School Night for all grade levels. Parents will be dismissed from the Media Center to their child’s homeroom. Parents, please be sure that your child tells you who their homeroom teacher is. That is where you will receive their schedule to follow for the evening.

August 18, 2017 is Fall Picture Day! These are yearbook pictures. Picture packets were distributed today, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 and students should bring them home so that you can make a package selection.

Your child’s EOG Milestones reports from last year were distributed today, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 and students should have brought them home for your review. If you did not receive scores, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.
