Conference Week letters were sent home today, Monday, September 18, 2017! The letter allows for selection of the type of conference, date & time, phone, or no conference needed.  Please return the letter to your child’s homeroom teacher.  Click HERE for the letter. During conference week (October 16, 2017 – October 20, 2017, students will be dismissed at approximately 1:30PM.

Students with extra-curricular activities/practices that are not scheduled for 4:30PM MUST go home and be brought back to their activity or practice. There is no supervision after 4:30 PM.

Picture re-takes are Friday, September 22, 2017.

Parents please join us for our Title 1 State of the School Meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 6pm in the Conference Room. We’d love to have you here.

CCSD will be on Fall Break next week September 25, 2017 – September 29, 2017 all schools will be closed.

Mark your calendar!  Students will have an early release day on Thursday, October 12, 2017.  We will dismiss at 1:30PM.

On behalf of the Superintendent, thank you for the efforts you have already embarked on making donations for hurricane relief. The impact of Hurricane Irma has forced us to alter our plans for this important cause. At ECMS we WILL NOT end collection of donations on Wednesday. Donations will be accepted through this week and until further notice.  Thank you!

PTSA/Foundation kicked off the “Invest with Positivity Campaign” in efforts to enhance educational opportunities and experiences for students and staff at East Cobb Middle School. No candy sales or wrapping paper; just simply make a contribution with a 100% of you donation supporting our school.  Parents and Donors can write a check and put it in the safe in the main hallway near locker stocker or donate online at www.ecmsptsa.com and click on Make Your Investment.

Our Food Pantry needs to be stocked for the new school year.  To support our students and families in need within the Wildcat Nation, please visit the PTSA website where you can find a sign up with specific requests.  Donated items may be dropped off in the Front Office at East Cobb Middle School from now until Friday September 22, 2017.

7th Grade Testing UPDATE: In order to allow for communication with families and to preserve a positive testing environment, we will not begin Iowa testing until Thursday, September 14th. The entire schedule will simply shift back three days.

Quarter 1 Progress Reports were distributed last Wednesday, September 6th. Parents you may keep the report, but please sign on the appropriate line for progress #1 to indicate receipt and review. And have your child return the envelope to their homeroom teacher.

Week of September 4th

A message from the Cobb County Police – There will be increased police presence at football games; students are not to engage in fighting or other illegal activities. Officers will be present and will prosecute those who violate the law. Parents please be mindful that when Wheeler High School has home games (football, basketball, or any sport); students are to go home first and then brought back to Wheeler High School for games. Games begin well after the middle school day ends and there is no supervision at East Cobb Middle School or Wheeler High School to supervise students prior to the game.  It is also suggested and highly encouraged that parents attend games with their children.

Quarter 1 Progress Reports will be distributed on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. 7th grade parents, included with your child’s progress report is a letter regarding CogAT and Iowa. Parents you may keep the report, however please sign on the appropriate line for Progress #1 to indicate review and receipt. Your child will need to return the envelope to their homeroom teacher.

6th Grade Parents, on Thursday, September 7, 2017 you child will participate in the 6th grade social in the gym during 6th period. Students are welcome to bring money to purchase drinks and snacks!

7th Grade Parents, on Friday, September 8, 2017, your child will take the Cognitive Abilities Test, and from September 11-14, 2017, your child will take the Iowa Assessments™.  A letter outlining specific details regarding the test will be sent home, Wednesday, September 6, 2017.   Click on the tab above, Testing Updates – Upcoming testing information (7th Grade CogAT/Iowa)

On September 11th and 12th at 11:45AM, 8th grade students will attend a Cobb County School District Magnet School Presentation in the East Cobb Middle Theater This presentation is for our 8th grade students.  Parents are invited to attend.
