Week of November 11th

The ECMS Invest with Positivity campaign has officially launched with a goal of $35,000! Money continues to support PTA programs and events, Curriculum & Field Trip Grants, school clubs and enrichment. The goal also includes funding an outdoor classroom and a set of bleachers. Please help us meet our goal this year by contributing to the campaign. You can find information on the PTA/Foundation website and social media outlets. We have already raised over $10,000 but we need your help to reach our target.

At this time we will no longer issue bus passes to buses (2232 or 1468). These buses are filled to capacity and space is not available for additional riders.

Q2 4 ½ Weeks progress reports will be made available in ParentVue on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. An envelope with other pertinent information will be sent home with students. Please return the envelope with your signature indicating that you have viewed your child’s progress report online and all of the information in the envelope. If you have not obtained your ParentVue code to view your child’s grades, progress reports, and report cards check with Student Services to get signed up.
The ECMS Talent Show is Thursday November 21, 2019 at 6PM. Tickets are $1 and will be pre-sold. There will be no tickets sold at the door. Students must accompanied by a parent and are not allowed to stay after school. Students must go home afterschool and return to school with parents.

Georgia Parent Survey

The Georgia Parent Survey is now available! Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey. The data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating for East Cobb Middle School. Survey responses are anonymous, self-reported, and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. Parents who do not have access to the Internet, may contact the school to set up a time to utilize Parent Resources for internet use. The Georgia Parent Survey link is posted on the school’s and the PTSA’s website as well as here. Georgia Parent Survey: https://gshs.gadoe.org/parents

Parents, you may still submit the Scoliosis Opt out letter if you do not want to have your student screened at school. Please read the letter and view the link found on the PTSA blog or ECMS website https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRqiyqz7TXU&t=139s regarding the process for the Scoliosis screening. If you do not wish to have your child screen by school personnel, please sign and return the Opt out letter to your child’s homeroom teacher.

Parents please refrain from allowing students to bring valuable items and electronic devices to school. When they do, it is at their own risk. We will not expend resources to police lost or stolen items. Please reiterate this message at home. It is in the best interest to leave expensive and valuable items at home.
If a student is in possession of a cellphone/device upon entering a classroom… Cellphones/Devices must be docked in the pocket docking station upon entering class. (STUDENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO RETURN THE DEVICE TO THEIR LOCKER, IF THEY ARE IN POSSESSION OF IT UPON ENTERING CLASS, IT MUST BE DOCKED IN THE ASSIGNED DOCKING POCKET IN THE CLASSROOM). Cellphone/Devices should not be seen or heard in the classroom, cafe, hallway or at school unless it has been deemed appropriate for instructional use ONLY by the teacher, enacting BYOD; which will be communicated prior to or at the beginning of class. If a student’s phone is not docked in a pocket, which would indicate that the student is not in possession of a phone in the classroom. Students who violate the cell phone policy will receive consequences related to insubordination.
