Quarter 2 Report Cards were made available in StudentVue and ParentVue on January 11, 2019. Parents, remember throughout the remainder of the year you will have to access your child’s progress reports and report cards online via ParentVue. Please sign on the appropriate line for Q2 Report Card indicating that you have viewed your child’s report card online and reviewed the contents in the envelope. Students should return the signed envelope to their homeroom teacher as soon as possible. If you have not registered for ParentVue code, please do so. Come visit student services or use the ParentVue barcode on our webpage and follow directions on how to get your code.

Last week we announced upcoming events that your child will be invited to attend this spring at East Cobb Middle School. To provide a safe and orderly environment at these events, we will be implementing a behavior expectations plan. All students recently participated in Team Talks. During these “Talks”, topics of discussion included but were not limited to: academics, retention, attendance, behavior, and goals. Please see the previous blog post (January 11th) to click on the link to obtain a copy of the detailed letter that your child was given on Friday, January 11, 2019.

Please join us for the PTSA general meeting Thursday, January 17, 2019 @ 6:00pm in the East Cobb Middle School Learning Commons. We will have light refreshments as we celebrate our volunteers and announce the volunteer of the year!

For the safety of our students; parents for afternoon pick-up, please wait in the car line to pick-up your student rather than asking students to walk across the parking lot to gain access to your vehicle.

In observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, Cobb County School District will be closed January 21, 2019. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

Hidden Dangers: It’s not if, it’s when! The hidden dangers that our children face today are very real and much closer than many of us think. According to the US Department of Justice, 76% of predators most common first encounter is online.

Please come, hear more, and learn more on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 @ 6:30pm at East Cobb Middle School. This event is open to the community. Susan Norris from Rescuing Hope and Jeff Shaw from Out of Darkness will speak to us about protecting our children in this online world.   There will be separate forums for parents and students. You are asked to please RSVP students and parents before the event. Students must attend with parents. For more information and to RSVP, please visit our PTSA website: http://www.ecmsptsa.com/ ECMS students who attend with their parents will receive 5 REP Stamps!

Tutoring/Help sessions are at 8:15 every morning! If students arrive at school prior to 8:45 they will report to help sessions in the appropriate grade level. Monday – Language Arts, Tuesday – Science, Wednesday – Study Skills in the Theater, Thursday – Math, Friday – Social Studies

Parents for morning drop-off, please remember that the curb (red) in front of the school is a fire lane and is for drop-offs only. Please do not park. Some parents have been parking and waiting; which hinders other students from being dropped off. If you are here early and wait to let your student out of the car, please park in the parking lot and then drive to the drop off lane to let your student out in front of the school.

From the Cobb County DOT. DOT has installed “No Student Drop-off/Pick-up” signs at Amberly Park. This neighborhood is just south of, and adjacent to our school. We were asked to alert our community making them aware of this new signage. Parents, are not to use Amberly Park for student drop-offs/pick-ups. Students will need to ride the bus or be driven to school and dropped-off/picked-up at the appropriate locations.

Be an angel and support an Angel! The Angel Tree is now up in the front office at East Cobb Middle School, so please come by to select your Angel.
