READ READ READ! One of our goals is to show growth in student Lexile scores. An action to reach this goal is to give students an opportunity to read more. We read at least once a week during our Advisement Period. Parents, you can help us with that action at home and have your child read for at least 20 to 30 minutes each night. The more you read to more you know, the more you read the better your score. Thank you for supporting our goals and actions.

Parents if you are interested in having your child enter a cell phone contract with you before allowing them to have a cell phone or before continuing to allow them to have a cell phone, we have copies of contracts here at ECMS. It is a great idea and offers provisions to help keep your child digitally safe. Stop by and pick one up in the main office and consider using it. You can also google cell phone contracts specifically with adolescent and teenage children in mind. Also parents, consider having your child surrender their phones and devices to you prior to bedtime. This will assure they are getting sufficient rest and a peaceful sleep. That is just one example of the provisions included in the cell phone contract.

Help sessions are at 8:15 every morning! If students arrive at school prior to 8:45 they will report to help sessions in the appropriate grade level.

Monday – Language Arts Tuesday – Science Wednesday – Study Skills in the Theater Thursday – Math Friday – Social Studies

Students with extra-curricular activities/practices that are not scheduled for 4:30PM MUST go home and be brought back to their activity or practice. There is no supervision after 4:30 PM.

Quarter 2 Report Cards were made available in ParentVue and StudentVue Friday, January 5, 2018. Important information was sent home in an envelope along with the signature page for you to sign indicating you have viewed your student’s report and other important accompanying documents. Parents if you still do not have access to ParentVue please come by our guidance department to obtain your access code.

We have had an overwhelming response of generosity and just about all of the angels are in the hands of givers. There may be a couple remaining, but if you are still in the spirit of giving, gift cards are always a great universal gift and you can make sure to get those to Ms. Reade in the front office and we will pass them on to the Outreach Committee. Remember that all gifts from angels are due back to East Cobb Middle School by Friday, December 8, 2017.”
