Cobb KiDtalk

The KiDtalk & TeacherTalk contest was designed to give students and teachers a forum to share their groundbreaking ideas.  Last year’s KiDtalks & TeacherTalks shared how they are committed to impacting their world, community and/or school by…”  The KiDtalk and TeacherTalk contests support knowledge, innovation and deeper learning. These are three essential components of teaching and learning for Cobb students, according to Director of Instruction and Innovation, Melissa Morse. “This is a perfect combination of engaging student learning, using relevant social and video platforms to keep the connection real for students and letting student voice inspire. Our students and teachers love the challenge of high-level learning and the KiDtalk contest is the perfect forum for students of any age to make their thinking relevant and their insight be heard.”

Earbuds needed for Students in Grades 4 and 5

Parents, please send in a set of earbuds (any type that works with your child’s device). We are using technology in each class and students need to have their own ear buds. Ear buds can be kept in the binder or in a bag in the Target classroom. Nothing fancy is needed…even Dollar Store ear buds will work. Thank you!

Important Information for Parents Recently Tested for Target

Letters from the Target Department were mailed to parents on the last day of school in 2017. We understand that the post office has caused a delay in delivering these letters. We are working with the post office to get them delivered as soon as possible.  Once they arrive, if your student qualified for Target, please make note of the following:

4th and 5th grade students will need a copy of the book “The Twenty-One Balloons” by William Pene DuBois. You can purchase it on Amazon, book stores, and Bookmiser on Roswell Rd.

3rd grade students will need a copy of the book “The Wild Robot” by Peter Brown. You can purchase it on Amazon to get the best price.

We would like to invite all parents of New Target Students to attend our Open House on January 23rd from 8:30 – 9:30. The meeting will be in the media center.

Parents of 4th and 5th grade parents should plan to stay later to learn about BYOD (bring your own device). Please bring your child’s device so that we can get it up and running to use in class.

The Target teachers will share important information about the gifted program at East Side and answer any questions that you may have. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Wow! Target students, families, and teachers donated over 1,275 pairs of socks to homeless families through our Socktober sock drive! We collected 865 pairs of children’s socks, 289 pairs of men’s socks, and 123 pairs of women’s socks. This is just in time for the colder weather too. We will donate the men’s socks to the Homeless Veterans of Atlanta. The women’s and children’s socks will be donated to local shelters. Thank you for your support!!

Happy Socktober!

Happy Socktober!

Target students and families….get ready for Socktober! Our class is joining in the effort to collect NEW socks for people living in shelters. Did you know that socks are one of the most needed and least donated items to homeless people?

In the United States it is estimated that over 600,000 people are homeless. Please send in new pairs of socks this month and put them in the collection box in your Target class. Let’s reach our goal of sending as many pairs of socks as we can to give to those in need.
