Learning Commons Updates February 22-26

Please see below for details about what each grade level worked on this week in the learning commons.

Kindergarten, 1st,and  2nd classes: All K-3rd grade classes continued to check out books from the learning commons, and some classes continued to participate in a reading of Score One for the Sloths to discuss character traits or compare to another characters (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A).

3rd, 4th and 5th grade: Classes continued to check out books with their classes. Also, Ms. Asher’s fourth grade classes continued working on their biography projects. They used the Britannica Image Quest database in Cobb Digital Library for their research (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A).

Technology Tip Tuesday

This week’s tip serves as a reminder about the opportunity for Frey students called KidTalkCobb.

This is a great opportunity for the students of Frey to raise their voices and represent our school! The theme this year and link for more information are below:

Also, some second grade classes explored non fiction text features (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A).

This week’s tip serves as another reminder about our new resource we have access to: bookflix! . Students now can use Bookflixto read paired fiction and nonfiction texts. At school, students do not need a password or username to login. If you would like to access Bookflix at home, please contact Mrs. Sherman or child’s teacher for the login information. Also, next Tuesday we will be taking a break with our technology tips since Cobb County schools are on mid-winter break next week! We hope everyone has a great week off next week!

Kindergarten, 1st,and  2nd classes: All K-3rd grade classes continued to check out books from the learning commons, and some classes continued to participate in a reading of Sheila Rae the Brave to discuss character traits or a different version of a fairy tale in order to compare/contrast fairy tales (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A).

3rd, 4th and 5th grade: Classes continued to check out books with their classes. Also, Musial’s 3rd grade students researched information about their independent research topic. They used a variety of databases in Cobb Digital Library for their research (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A).
