Learning Commons Updates October 24-28

Please see below for what each grade level is working on this week in the learning commons.

Kindergarten and first grade: We read fall stories in order to prepare for Character day on October 31st!  (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A, ELAGSEKRL3).

Second grade: All of second grade visited on Monday, and they were special agents looking for answers and clues in non-fiction books using non-fiction text features (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S).

Third-Fifth grade: Classes continued to check out library books (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S).

 

Technology Tip Tuesday

Thanks to everyone for checking back for another technology tip Tuesday! This week’s tip is how to quickly italicize a highlighted section. You simply highlight your selection and select the Ctrl + I keys. Your selection is now italicized! Check back again for more quick, tech tips!

Learning Commons Updates October 10-14

Please see below for what each grade worked on this week in the learning commons.

Also, don’t forget the scholastic book fair is next week during conference week! We are open 7:15AM-4:00PM on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 7:15AM-6:00PM on Tuesday, and 7:15AM-9:00AM on Friday. We can’t wait to see everyone!

K: We continue to work with stories involving baby animals. Some classes came for small group or whole class check out (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A, ELAGSEKRL3).

1st: Ms. Adair’s class visited for a book tasting this week. Again, some students came in small group or whole group to check more books (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A, ELAGSE1RL3).

2nd-5th grade classes: Classes continued to check out library books, and Rutledge’s third grade team worked with their green screen recordings this week (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S).

Learning Commons Updates October 3-7

We hope everyone had a great fall break last week! We are back at it this week in the learning commons! We’ve continued with class check out, and grade level specific information is below.

K: We worked with stories involving baby animals. Some classes came for small group or whole class check out (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A, ELAGSEKRL3).

1st: Some classes came for a story where we worked with retelling. Again, some students came in small group or whole group to check more books (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A, ELAGSE1RL3).

2nd-5th grade classes: Classes continued to check out library books, and Massey’s third grade team worked with their green screen recordings this week (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S).

Technology Tip Tuesday

This week’s tip focuses on an app that 5th graders are enjoying using currently in their digital narrative writing. It is called Shadow Puppet Edu, and it allow students to create stories using text, audio, and pictures. Also,if their teacher is using Seesaw, it also will allow their stories or projects to connect with Seesaw!
