Learning Commons Updates November 28- December 2

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break last week! This week in the learning commons we continued with small group and whole group check as well as lessons with grade levels. Please below for specific grade-level information.

Kindergarten: We began reading books to prepare for the winter holidays (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A).

1st grade-2nd grade: We continued focusing on the main idea of a story this week, and also we reviewed how to select a “just right” book for us. Some students are ready for chapter books, but we can’t forget about revisiting some favorite picture books sometimes too! (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S).

3rd grade-5th grade: Classes continued to check out library books. Also, Mrs. Massey’s classes came in for a lesson regarding selecting books that are on their correct reading levels (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S).

Technology Tip Tuesday

Again, this week’s tip is again the encouragement of the use of Cobb Digital Library (CDL). To access CDL, please click here. Students can access all Frey databases, e-books, and audiobooks both at home and at school using CDL. Over Thanksgiving break, don’t forget you can use these e-books to keep up strong reading habits!

Please contact Mrs. Sherman at ashley.sherman@cobbk12.org if you have questions!

Technology Tip Tuesday

We hope everyone is having a great week so far! This week’s technology tip is again a little different than simply a quick shortcut. This week’s tip is the encouragement of the use of Cobb Digital Library (CDL). This week fifth grade students in Ms. Brandon’s class used CDL to help them with their research. To access CDL, please click here. Students can access all Frey databases, e-books, and audiobooks both at home and at school using CDL. Please contact Mrs. Sherman at ashley.sherman@cobbk12.org if you have questions!
