This week’s tip is definitely one some students need help remembering because many times we forget to save our work when typing on the computer (especially as students start publishing their work this week in the learning commons). If you need to quickly save your word in Word (and you should often!) when typing, select the Ctrl+S keys! You can easily and quickly save your document!
This week we continued whole group and small group check out in the learning commons. Kindergarten classes finished their green screen videos for their bald eagle research, and we look forward to parents viewing these at the feast next week! Also, first grade classes continued to come through for their sight word search and to check out library books.
Fourth grade students also came in whole and small groups this week to work on their published writing on the computers in the learning commons.
To celebrate the release of the new Star Wars film, the West Cobb Region of the Cobb County Public Library System is having a Star Wars Party on December 1st from 5pm-7pm at the West Cobb Regional Library. There will be Star Wars-themed games, crafts, STEM activities and much more! All ages are invited and encouraged to come in costume and take photos in our photo booth. We hope you can share this information with your students because it is going to be a fun evening!
This week’s tip is a reminder about Office 365. This is a resource students have access to at school as well as home for free! If your student needs help logging in or re-setting their login information, please let Mrs. Sherman know.

This week’s tip again focuses on Cobb Digital Library. Reminder: We now have single sign-on for this when students are at school. They login with their credentials at school, and it will take them to the Frey CDL homepage.
At home, students and staff will use their Office 365 credential to access. For staff, that’s email and computer password. For students, that’s the Office 365 email (first email@example.com) and their computer password.
We’ve had another busy week in the learning commons this week! Musial/Orr’s team visited for a Cobb Digital Library review and research time. Ms. Brandon and Ms. Genesi’s ELA classes also visited for a Cobb Digital review for fifth grade research. Check out with whole classes and small groups continued. Some classes visited for a fall read-a-loud of The Scarecrow’s Hat, and on Friday we will start working with Kindergarten green screen videos.
