In order to open a new, blank document, have a word document open and select the Ctrl + N keys.A new document should appear for you to work in. Check back again for more quick, tech tips!

Kindergarten: This week we discussed the American flag, and we designed a class flag for each kindergarten class based on what each class thought was important to them (AASL 1.2.2,NETS-S 1A, ELAGSEKSL5).
1st and 2nd grade: With both grades this week, we read a variety of books and discussed ways we can tell how a book is “just right” when we pick library books. We focused on the 5 finger rule, and students received a bookmark with these rules on them (AASL 1.2.2, NETS-S 1A, ELAGSE1RL2, ELAGSE1RL2).
3rd,4th, 5th grade: Almost classes were able to come check out books this week and discuss which books they would like in the learning commons (AASL 1.2.2).

We had a busy Friday in the learning commons! We added some of our new furniture, and some of our kindergartners had the opportunity to come and use it during their visit (see below)! Stay tuned for more construction updates!

Most classes were able to visit the learning commons this week in order to check out library books. We were completing some sections of testing in the learning commons this week, but we will be on a normal schedule next week. We have a new fried in the learning commons this week! (See below to meet the new “Bookie Monster” book drop.) Check back next week for details about each grade level’s lessons.

Welcome back all! This week in the learning commons all the classes came through on an alternating schedule with the STEM lab for an orientation session. Students discussed appropriate behavior, tasks they can complete in the learning commons, and check out procedures. Also, a reminder to 3rd-5th grade students: don’t forget to start filling out your “Red Hot Reads” book reviews. Also, 4th and 5th grade students don’t forget to fill out and turn in your reading bowl application by August 25th. Also, broadcast team applications are due for 5th graders on August 17th.
