May 2017

It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the school year! We finished our unit on farms. Students loved learning about all of the animals that live on a farm.

During the last 4 weeks of this school year, both classes are going to “splash” into “ocean life.” Ms.Kelly’s class will focus on the stories Ten Little Fish by Audrey Wood and Bruce Wood, Pout- Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen and Deep Blue Sea by Audrey Wood and Bruce Wood.

Ten Little Fish is a beautifully illustrated counting book with bright colorful fish in a big blue ocean.  This story has engaging rhyming text that reinforces numbers and number concepts and will continue to focus on ocean and beach fun as we near summer vacation. Pout- Pout Fish takes you on swim with a fish who is always pouting, spreading his “dreary wearies” until a new friend gives him a different perspective. Deep Blue Sea is brightly illustrated book that reinforces colors.

Ms. Tara’s class will “dive” into Ten Friendly Fish by Debbie Tarbet and Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea by Jan Pea.

Ten Friendly Fish is also a brightly illustrated book with rhyming text that reinforces numbers and number concepts. Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea is about a little boy who is on an adventure looking for treasure in the sea. He encounters many different sea creatures on his journey. He finds that not all of them are friendly, but luckily he is safe in his bathtub.

We will introduce the letters F and J. We will take this time to review all the colors and shapes that we have learned this school year.
