This week we will be continue using Esperanza Rising to introduce our standards.  We will be working on answering explicit and implicit questions using text evidence to support our answers.

Explicit questions are questions that the answers can be found directly in the text.  Implicit questions are questions that require the reader to use information from the text as well as information from themselves such as inferences, feelings, or personal thoughts to answer the question.

The last day of the quarter is Wednesday.  Students  should have 4 AR books and 1 book report book completed by Wednesday is they are planning on being including in the 5th grade reading reward.

We have started unit 3 in Wordly Wise.  The test will be Thursday on unit 3.  We are completing a Wordly Wise unit every week this year instead of every two weeks as we did last year.
