International Day of Peace

Friday, September 21st

Next Friday, September 21 is the International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”).  Peace Day is observed around the world each year on September 21. Established in 1981 by a unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.  To celebrate this wonderful day, Kincaid staff and students are participating in several activities.

  • Teachers will be delivering lessons and activities to promote kindness and acceptance.
  • Students and staff are encouraged to wear “Peace” themed clothes to school. Break out your tye-dyes, headbands, bellbottoms etc. to celebrate peace at Kincaid and in our larger world.
  • Rausch will create “Pinwheels for Peace” with all students to display outside on the front lawn.  These pinwheels will be put out on the afternoon of September 20th. You and your student are welcome to view the display on the evening of September 20th or on September 21st

Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Green can’t believe we are already into the second nine weeks of the 2014-2015 school year. During conference week, we enjoyed meeting new speech families and visiting with families we already know. With our language groups, we have been working on vocabulary and comprehension questions  related to the following units:  map skills, things we do- dressing, bathing, eating, native americans, fables and folktales. Our articulation groups continue to work on producing their sounds within all different levels of speech. Please remember to practice your skills at home so that you can take what you learn in speech and show it off to your parents. Keep up the great work!                                                                                                              Mrs. Green and Mrs. Morris

Hi Friends,

I want to make sure my students have the materials they need to succeed, so I just created a request for my classroom at DonorsChoose.org:

Students Need STEM

Give to my classroom by November 5, 2014 and your donation will be doubled thanks to DonorsChoose.org. Just enter the code SPARK on the payment page and you’ll be matched dollar for dollar (up to $100).

If you chip in to help my students, you’ll get awesome photos and our heartfelt thanks.

Thanks so much,
Marchelle

P.S. If you know anyone who may want to help my classroom, please pass this along!
