It’s Book Fair Time! November 10 & November 12-16

We’re excited to have another opportunity to provide quality books for our students and our classrooms with the fall book fair!  Students will be given opportunities to preview the book fair in addition to receiving the flyer. Sales times are: Saturday 11/10 with Chick-Fil-A Biscuit sales from 9 am-12 pm. Monday 11/12 – Thursday 11/15 from 7:15 am to 3:15 pm and on Friday 11/16 from 7:15 am -11:15 am.

We’ll once again have a Veteran’s Display. If you have a loved one that is a veteran or on active duty, we’d like to include a photo of them in our display. Please send in an unframed, labeled photo (with child’s name & teacher’s name) to the media center no later than Friday, 11/9 to be included in the hallway display. We’ll also have a special media center display from the book, America’s White Table as a remembrance to service members who were prisoners of war or missing in action.

It’s time for the Fall Book Fair!

November 11 & November 13-17

The Fall Book Fair is just around the corner! In order to bring you a better variety and quality of books, we are now working with Bedford Falls Book Fairs. We’ve been to several of their book fairs and have been pleased with the selection and have heard rave reviews from teachers and parents at the schools. We are excited about the change and hope that you will have more choices to meet the reading needs of your family!
Please note one change to the payment options – Bedford Falls does not accept American Express at this time. You still have the option to pay with cash, check, VISA or Mastercard (debit cards included).
Our shopping hours are:
Pre-Sale Saturday on 11/11 from 9 am to 12 pm – The PTA will be on hand selling Chick-Fil-A biscuits!
Regular Sales 11/13 – 11/17.
  • Monday through Thursday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • Friday 7:30 am to 11:30 am
Annual Veteran’s Day Display: We have a special display during the fall book fair to honor our GM family and friends that have served in the military. If you have a loved one who served, we would be honored to display any memorabilia you would like to share that would be appropriate for viewing by our students. We are accepting the memorabilia now through November 10th in the media center. Please make sure that the item(s) are marked with a GM student’s name. Items will be sent home with the student before Thanksgiving Break or if you would prefer to pick it up yourself, please let us know.

Spring Book Fair Results

The final reports and in and with your generosity, we were able to raise $2,731.53 to purchase new books and technology for the media center! Purchases in the media center benefit everyone in the school – students, teachers, and parents who are supporting their children’s literacy skills at home.

A special thank you to the families who purchased and donated six books from the media center’s wish list basket! We’re cataloging the books and they should be out very soon.

Thank you again for such a wonderful turnout for our spring book fair! We were so surprised to see so many families and are grateful for your support.

 

 

 

 

 

Spring Book Fair 3/28 – 4/1

We’ve added a spring book fair this year!

Flyers went home in the Thursday folders last week, but we have more in the media center if you need one.

Students can purchase items on their own, or parents can come in with them. Parents can also send in a check (payable to Garrison Mill Elementary) that is signed. Please note that we cannot give change back on a check, so you’ll either need to know the specific total beforehand, or we can fill in the amount and send you a receipt. We do not charge sales tax, so the prices listed on the books and other items is the full price.

Purchases at the book fair can be made with cash, check, debit card or credit card.

 

Our shopping ours in the media center this week are:

Monday and Tuesday 7:15 am to 3:15 pm

Wednesday 7:15 am to 2:15 pm

Thursday 7:15 am to 3:15 pm and 5:30-7:00 pm during our STEAM night

Friday 7:15 am to 12:15 pm

Thank you!

Our fall book fair was even more successful than last year’s thanks to all of our Garrison Mill families and friends! Our total sales were $19,797.01 and we cleared a profit of $4799.26! WOW!

The profits from this fall book fair will be used to pay for the renewal of our Accelerated Reading online program, as well as supplies to support our teachers such as laminating and poster board/poster making supplies.

If you didn’t find everything you needed, be sure to mark your calendar now for our spring book fair! We’ll hold the spring book fair the week before spring break – March 28 through April 1. Profits from the spring book fair will be used to purchase new books for the media center and technology for the makerspace.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a successful book fair – a special thanks to our wonderful volunteers – we couldn’t have done it without you!

Shopping at School takes place in the Media Center Monday, 11/16 through Friday, 11/20. Specific hours are:

Monday & Tuesday 7:15 am to 3:15 pm

Wednesday 7:15 am to 2:15 pm

Thursday 7:15 am to 3:15 pm AND 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm *Same night as the PTA meeting, Art Show & STEM night!

Friday 7:15 am to 12:15 pm

Shopping online at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/gmmc  takes place Friday, 11/13 through Monday, 11/30. Online sales still benefit our school and gives you access to everything that Scholastic offers – much more than we could ever have at our book fair! This is a great resource to share with family and friends who aren’t able to attend the Grandparents & Special Friends luncheons but still want to support the school or purchase gifts. Items are shipped to the school for free!

While you’re finding great new books for  your family, please don’t forget our classroom teachers! The book fair is an easy way to help support literacy in your child’s classroom. Teachers will have Classroom Wish List forms (look for the giant bulletin board in the media center) showing which books they would love to add to their classroom’s collection. Your child can hand-deliver the book to their very grateful teacher!

allforbooksWe’re also collecting spare change to buy books for children in need at other elementary schools in our area. Alldonors will be able to write their name on a book cut-out and be displayed in the hallway outside the media center. Scholastic will match all donations we collect and donate books to needy children around the world.

We will once again have our Veteran’s Day display to honor the veterans from our Garrison Mill families. Please send in any memorabilia that  you would like to share with our students and visitors. Each item should be labeled with the name of a Garrison Mill student. All items should be dropped off in the Media Center by Thursday, 11/12. Items will be sent home on Friday, 11/20 with the student who is listed on the label. If you wish to pick up your items yourself, you are welcome to do so, but we ask that you do so before Friday at 2:15 pm. Thank you for once again sharing your precious memories with us so that our young students can begin to understand the sacrifices and hardships our veterans endured.

Book Fair Results

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and supported the book fair! We have our results and we topped our sales from last year! We sold $18,946.03 worth of merchandise which gives us a profit of $4729.02 to use right here at Garrison Mill to support our teachers and students.

A special thank you to everyone who loaned us materials to use for our special Veteran’s Display. We were proud to show our support of Veterans and especially those right here in our own community. If you didn’t get a chance to send something in this year, we’ll have the display again next year, so make your plans now.
