LEARNING COMMONS

Media Centers all across Cobb County are converted to a Learning Commons model. Here at GMMC, we already embrace the philosophy of a learning commons and are working to update the space as funding allows. But you may still be wondering, what is a learning commons? Read this article from the American Library Association  or this infographic from the Cobb County School District’s Library Media Education Department to learn more!

MYSTERY READERS

When serving as a mystery reader for your child’s class, I always suggest reading one of your child’s favorite books to their class. If that doesn’t seem like a good fit, then you can borrow a book from the media center. We have created grade level lists (K-2nd grade) of suggested titles for mystery readers. You can view those on Destiny Quest under the “Resources” tab. Remember, Destiny Quest can be accessed from home or school.  We can give you a quick tutorial on how to use Destiny Quest when you stop by the media center. If you want us to select a book, please give us 2-3 days notice.
