It’s been an exciting and busy school year – with possibly the most exciting part being awarded a grant to create a makerspace!
We are nearing the end of the year, and it’s almost time for our grant’s final report. We would like to request that you share your thoughts and observations about the makerspace one last time before the 2014-2015 school year is finished.
Below are links to surveys that we would appreciate being completed prior to May 27th. There are survey links for students, parents and teachers. Please remember, your responses will only be used for data to include in the grant final report and to guide us in planning lessons for the 2015-2016 school year. Those plans will also include a Makerspace FEAST club – so look for that information once the new school year begins!
If you have any questions or comments that you’re more comfortable sharing via email, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey and for the support you’ve shown for our new makerspace!
We are very excited to announce that everything has finally arrived and the makerspace is open for business!
We’re talking and planning with teachers to immediately begin using the makerspace resources to help support their curriculum. The makerspace will also support the curriculum of the art and music departments as well as the technology teacher’s lessons and lessons within the media center.
If you haven’t looked at our makerspace page lately, visit it and read what we’ve been up to all this time. Better yet, stop by the media center to see the space firsthand!
We’ve finally heard back from the technology department and received our quote! We’re now in the process of ordering supplies for the makerspace! WOO-HOO! Keep checking back for more updates!
We did receive the grant to create a makerspace here at Garrison Mill and we are super excited! We have been working with the CCSD technology department to have network cables added to the new media center offices and that is taking a bit longer than we anticipated. Unfortunately, we cannot order any equipment or move forward with creating the makerspace until the technology issues are resolved.
We are anxious to get this started and will be soon sending Google survey links to complete beginning surveys so that we may have data to use to determine or success with this program. Students, parents, and teachers will be asked to complete these surveys.
If you’re interested in volunteering to help with the transition to the makerspace (we are working on things that can even be completed at home) or would like to help us during the day with students, please let us know. It’s never too late to volunteer and even a few minutes of your time can make a big difference.
So, don’t give up hope – the makerspace is coming!
I’d like to send out a special thank you to all the students, teachers and parents who completed surveys for us about creating a makerspace in the media center! We submitted a grant application on Friday that would give us substantial funding to get the makerspace program up and running. We’re hoping to find out this month if the grant was approved or not. Fingers crossed!
