Read Across America

Read Across America Day is officially on March 2 of each year in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. However, we love reading so much at Garrison Mil that we’re celebrating for an entire week – March 2- 6, 2015!

Here’s what we have planned:

Monday, 3/2 – Author Carmen Agra Deedy is visiting!┬áThis special treat is being sponsored by the Garrison Mill PTA.
Tuesday, 3/3 – We’re having a school-wide “count the hats” event. Count all the Cat in the Hat hats and you could win your very own Cat in the Hat hat!
Wednesday, 3/4 – We’re going to show off photos submitted by our students who responded to our challenge “I Will Read Anywhere!” (Submit photos online at http://dropevent.com/gallery/share53562)
Thursday, 3/5 – Football Players from Kennesaw State University are coming to read Dr. Seuss stories to our students.┬áBe sure to wear your black and gold (KSU colors) to support our special guests!
Friday, 3/6 – It’s Character Dress-Up Day! Although we love Dr. Seuss, students and staff are encouraged to dress-up as their favorite book character.

Throughout the week we’ll have daily trivia about Dr. Seuss on the morning broadcast, Good Morning Greyhounds. We’ll also be adding lots of Dr. Seuss books to our media center lessons.

It’s going to be an exciting week! Be sure to stop by to share in the fun!
