Learning Goal(s): Read and analyze trickster tales from different cultures answering “How is the culture reflected in the tale?  What was the purpose of the tale?”  (RL1-2, 3-6)

CTLS Live Session

  • Log into CTLS LOG IN and MicrosoftO365
  • 20 minutes to work on “Where I am From” Poem
  • Journal Trickster #1: What lessons do you remember learning as a child? (Use your table manners, chew with your mouth closed, don’t run with scissors, etc.) Respond in CNB/journal
  • Introduce Trickster Archetype with Crashcourse Trickster Part 1
  • Discuss Trickster notes in CNB (class notebook)

Independent Work Session

  • Work on your Where I am From poem and be ready for peer review tomorrow

 

TUESDAY:

Learning Goal(s): Self and peer edit poems; Read and analyze trickster tales from different cultures answering “How is the culture reflected in the tale?  What was the purpose of the tale?”  (RL1-2, 3-6)

CTLS Live Session

  • Peer review poems in CNB
  • Begin reading and analyzing Trickster archetype in tales from various cultures “Numskull and the Rabbit” (Ancient India) CNB/Numskull Handout
    • Intro culture/purpose with PPT slides
    • Read tale together and view video tale
    • Complete literary analysis graphic organizer on notes page in CNB

Independent Work Session

  • Work on your Where I am From poem
  • Find something to read

  • Finish your Where I am From poem

    • Discuss culture/background of Brer Rabbit
    • Read tale together and view video tale
    • Complete literary analysis graphic organizer in CNB

 

Independent Work Session

  • Have book/magazine/graphic novel to show tomorrow
