Pre-Course Assignments

As you know, Harrison has pre-course assignments for most academic classes. Chemistry Pre-Course

You will need a good scientific calculator for this course and the knowledge of how to use it properly. It is not necessary to have a graphing calculator but you can use that if you already own one.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to prepare for class so that YOU are successful. There will be an in-class quiz over the 30 listed elements and symbols as well as a safety quiz. There is one on-line quiz to take about math concepts. Some of the content regarding protons, electrons, and neutrons will also be on the first test. See you on Thursday, January 4!

Appreciation :-)

Thank you for a great semester! I hope that you learned to think for yourselves, to read questions carefully for information, and how to analyze and that you will carry this learning experience with you as you progress to future science courses. I hope that you and your families have a wonderful break and that you return rested and re-energized ready to take on Semester 2!

National Honor Society

We were slated to deliver letters to students on Monday, May 22, to inform students of our new membership. However, due to the tragedy that occurred over the weekend and the loss of Joelle D, we have decided to delay the letter delivery. If you would like to know if you made it into NHS, please contact either Mr. League or me and we will be glad to let you know. Otherwise, we will distribute the letters when we return to school in the fall. Thank you for being a caring Hoya community to support our students in need.

Original post 1/31/17:

On Wednesday, February 1, students with a 3.8 GPA or higher received letters inviting them to attend an informational meeting on either 2/2 or 2/3 regarding NHS. At this meeting, students were informed of the four tenets of NHS – scholarship, leadership, character, and service. They received application packets which are due on Friday, March 31. Students were counseled on the importance of the packets including the essay on leadership and the essay on service. Packets may be turned in to either Mr League (Room 407) or to me (Room 317) by that date. A faculty committee will begin the reading of the applications at that point and students will learn of invitations to join the chapter on May 22. If you have questions, please contact me or Mr. League.

IF YOUR APPLICATION PACKET DOES NOT HAVE THE LEADERSHIP ESSAY PAGE, PLEASE SEE MR. LEAGUE OR MRS. HEIGES IMMEDIATELY TO OBTAIN – YOUR APPLICATION IS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT IT!!!
