On Wednesday, February 7, all students at Harrison with a 3.8 weighted GPA or higher received invitations to attend one of three informational meetings regarding NHS. The students learned that NHS is about scholarship, character, leadership, and service. They received application packets and learned the importance of presenting themselves well via the packet. Packets are due on Friday, March 30, to either Mr. League (407) or Mrs. Heiges (317). The packets include two essays – one about service and one about leadership. Students were encouraged to seek signatures from sponsors, coaches, youth ministers, and other adults to confirm activities as well as service and leadership. The applications will be read by the members of the faculty committee and then invitations will be extended to those prospective students who the committee decides to invite. Notification will occur on Monday, May 21.
***On March 30, 2018, applications were submitted to either Mr. League or Mrs. Heiges. We stayed that afternoon and organized the applications and divided them out for faculty committee members.
Faculty committee members will spend the next 6 weeks reading the applications, giving particular attention to the essays written by applicants. The committee will meet in late May to make decisions.
Applicants will be notified on Monday, May 21, of the committee decisions on NHS admission.
