Students will be reading Esperanza Rising in class and discussing how the setting of the story influences the character’s decisions. We will also be learning about character traits. Students will be working on their Reading Response in class. Wednesday they will be assigned some reading on Esperanza Rising as homework, there will be a quiz on this reading on Thursday.
Last week we began working on our rough drafts for our narrative writing based on a roller-coaster. This week we will be editing our rough drafts looking at our ideas, voice, word choice, and conventions. Students final draft is due on Thursday.
We our finally done with Citizenship and moving on to studying the Turn of the Century. We’re learning about the cattle trails and cowboys! Students will be learning about The Chisholm Trail and Black Cowboys this week.
Last week we had a great experiment in Science Lab about weathering and erosion and how they relate to constructive and destructive forces. Tuesday students will be assigned a take home project on Pangea. The project is due next Monday, September 2nd.
