The Soar to 1600 College Readiness Initiative: SAT Test Prep Parent Meeting is Wednesday, November 28th at 6:00 p.m. here at Hillgrove. Click on the flyer for more information. Click here to RSVP. The classes will start January 2019. The meeting will be held in the Band Room.

 

If you cannot make the Hillgrove meeting, below are other meetings that might work better for you. You must e-mail Myesha.Davis@cobbk12.org which meeting you plan to attend. Do not RSVP for the Hillgrove meeting if you are going to attend another meeting.

Jacksonville State University – Free Admissions Application Week!!!

Monday, October 29th through Friday, November 2nd will be Alabama’s College Application Week. To celebrate, JSU is providing the following promotional code for students to be able to apply for admission without a fee. We hope that your students will take advantage of this opportunity that is only available next week!

FREEWEEK

The code will become active at 12:00 am CST on October 29th and expire at 11:59 pm CST on November 2nd. It can be added into the “promotional code” field on the freshman application.

JSU does require students to complete their application by submitting their official high school transcript and official test scores. We will accept test scores from the high school transcript or the test agency. We are able accept these documents prior to the submission of the application. Students will be reviewed for admission to JSU based on a review of the combination of their GPA and test scores.

October Coffee with the Counselors-What Parents Need to Know When Talking to Their Kids About Drugs

In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, join the Lovinggood Professional School Counselors in learning more about drugs and how they are affecting our community and what you can do when talking to your kids. Our very own Officer Herman will speak on the trends in vaping, how kids are accessing illegal substances and other topics parents should know about when discussing drugs and alcohol with their students.

When: Thursday, October 25 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Where: Lovinggood Middle School Theater

Dual Enrollment Opportunity at Georgia Institute of Technology

The College of Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology is pleased to offer its newest online dual enrollment course for high school students.  Organic Chemistry I (CHEM 2311-3 credits) will be offered starting in the spring of 2019.

Organic chemistry is typically a required course in a variety of college majors, including chemistry, biochemistry, biology, chemical engineering, and for all students who are interested in admission to medical, dental, and pharmacy programs. This course is open to students with a score of 4 or 5 on the Advanced Placement chemistry exam.  For additional information about this new online course, please see the below links:
