The Southern Museum is excited to announce that we are currently recruiting high school students, ages 16-18, for our Teen Volunteer Program!  Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn more about the Museum, including trains and the Civil War, and share their knowledge with museum visitors of all ages. We especially invite students looking to develop their leadership skills, practice communication and teamwork, and who are exploring career options. This is the perfect opportunity to earn volunteer hours while doing something meaningful!

Volunteers will be trained to facilitate hands-on activity stations in the Museum for visitors. These stations focus on a variety of history and science concepts, like Civil War music, how trains are made, or how pistons work. Each station has a few hands-on activities to illustrate new concepts, plus volunteers are able to share new facts and knowledge with visitors. We will train and coach volunteers through this process, so no need to be nervous!

Interested teens should head to our website to apply: www.southernmuseum.org/volunteer .  Applications are due by 5pm on Wednesday, September 4.  I’ve attached a poster that can be printed to help spread the word.  Please feel free to pass along my contact information for any further questions.
