Today we had an altered schedule. Again. Yay.

We continued our path toward the Civil War. We watched to episodes of SA called “Irrepressible Conflicts” and “The Union Collapses”  and answered guided questions for each. Both of these episodes will supplement your reading of Chapter 19 “Drifting Towards Disunion”. You also watched The Presidents episode for “James Buchanan”.

Today we had an altered schedule. Again. Yay.

We continued our lesson on growing sectionalism with 3 episodes of “The Presidents”; “Zachary Taylor”, “Millard Fillmore, and Franklin Pierce” and took guided notes on all three. You did NOT watch, nor do you have to, the SA episode, “Crisis & Compromise”; just answer the questions and have it in your notebooks.

We continued our lesson on Manifest Destiny with 3 episodes of The Presidents; “William Henry Harrison”, “John Tyler”, and James K. Polk” and took guided notes on all three (although WHH notes were minimal). You also watched and answered guided questions for a “Crash Course”episode called “War and Expansion” (ending at 7:39).

Today* you recapped/refreshed Chapter 16 with an episode of Shaping America called “The Slave South” and answered guided questions for it. We thoroughly discussed the objectives as well as the overview paragraphs.

Some classes were able to discuss a bit of the Chapter 16 homework, but we will complete it prior to taking a midway-through-the-unit quiz (Chapters 16-18).

ICYMI 11/15 & 11/16

Today you took your Unit 2 “Building the New Nation” Test.

A Day – You had a regular, uninterrupted schedule and completed both parts of the test (multiple choice & short answer)

1B – Although your schedule was abbreviated you also completed both sections of the test (the test was modified to accommodate a shorter schedule)

2B & 4B – Because of the wonky schedule, coupled with the emotional nature of the assembly, you completed only the multiple choice section of the test and you will complete the short answer section on Tuesday at the beginning of class.

You also received the overview, stuff, outline, and HOMEWORK for Chapter 16 “The South & the Slave Controversy”.

Today we finished grading the Chapter 15 homework and continued your review of  of Unit 2.

You were given practice multiple choice questions as well as practice short answer question. These were completed & discussed in class.

You were also offered review reading material to sign out and return. Please feel free to come by and pick it up/sign it out any time.
