Reading:  3rd Period with Mr. Hince:  Your test on Friday will include Signposts  (refer to your graphic organizer)- Characterization (Direct or Indirect)  Comprehension questions over the first 6 chapters of Freak the Mighty, and questions about the RACE strategy.  Review your handouts!

Language Arts – Period 5 & 7:  Draft copy of your myth must be complete by Monday November 13, 2017.   If you have missing work, it must be turned in by Monday as well if you want it to make Synergy for the Progress Report next week.    There will be an ELA Test on Wednesday November 15.  It will be a comprehensive test over information covered so far. Dust off those study guides that we have given you for earlier assessments and start to review!

ELA-4th and 6th-  We are working on the revision of our rough draft /Personal narrative.  There will be a test next Wednesday November 16th.  Start reviewing your phrases and clauses keeper!  The test will cover punctuation :  commas and quotation marks as well as the idea of an appositive.

 

Reading- Period 3  We are working on Chapter 3 and 4 of Freak the Mighty.  Chapter 3 work will include a summary:  Somebody Wanted But So, and Chapter 4 will be identifying Memory Moments.  See Mr. Hince’s blog for further details.  There is a link to his blog on the right side bar.

READING:  You have a blog response this week.  All responses must be complete by Thursday night at midnight…so complete it BEFORE you go to bed Thursday night.  Better yet, do it today if you have not completed it.

Friday you will have a QUIZ over plot elements and the web quest.  Check Mr. Hince’s blog for notes.  There is a link to his blog on the right hand side bar.

Language Arts: (4th and 6th)  We are working on the rough draft of our personal narrative.  Next step is learning how to revise a narrative and reflect on this. All work is being done in class.

Reading with Mr. Hince:  Continue to work on your Vocabulary Art books!  There may  be a notebook check this week.  Yesterday everyone took notes on the concept of plot and the elements that make it up.  REVIEW these notes daily for a stress free Quiz which will be coming up next week.  Reviewing nightly avoids the stress of trying to cram it all in the night before the quiz.  The organizer should be filed in your binder in the keeper/ handout section.  The blog question has been postponed until next week.

 

Language Arts All Classes: Test on Thursday

Last Minute Review session to clear up problems will be at 8:15 AM in 7A-5 on Thursday morning.   Seating is limited.  Check in with Ms. Sewell in the Cafeteria.

Welcome Back!  Now that the Labor Day weekend is behind us, there is a lot to do in front of us this week.  Tomorrow is our first DMS Challenge Class for the 2017-2108 school year. In addition to our challenge class, the 7th Grade will begin COGAT testing on Friday.  The IOWA test will be given MON-THURS. morning next week.

ELA:  Periods 5 & 7:  There will be a QUIZ tomorrow over coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS) and subordinating conjunctions (AAAWWWWUUBBIS-T).   This is a straight out memory quiz.  We will ask you to list these items.  There are quizlets and a practice game on Miss Tansy’s blog.  For a complete list of conjunctions on the quiz tomorrow, check here: Blog post-conjunctions-28kz2vq    For extra practice, head over to Miss Tansy’s blog for a quizlet or two!  You can also practice by writing down the terms as many times as it takes you to recall them from memory.

For those students in ELA periods 4, 5, 6,7 I will be offering a special reteach session on the application of figurative language.  If you did not do well on the last page of the test last Thursday, this class is for you.  Come to 7A-5 for a help session on Figurative Language Application and the opportunity to improve your test grade.

Language Arts: Period 4, 5, 6 & 7

You will have a test on Thursday!  Everyone received a study guide today to complete.  The answers to the study guide can be found in several places.  The Figurative Language packet will help you with the definitions section.  The handout from Ms. Inman about HOOKS will help with that section.  If you cannot find it or need more details, you can get information about hooks here:Hook Mini Lesson-17eo2lo.   The writing process steps can be found online in your textbook on page 8.  The study guide for the quiz, posted on my blog last week also lists the steps of the writing process.  Please come to class with your study guide completed. We will go over it in class tomorrow in order to prepare for the test.  Since tomorrow is an early dismissal day, you will have plenty of time to review before Thursday morning.
