ELA7- Second Period:  Test next Tuesday over Phrases & Clauses and Sentence Structure.  Review your flashcards for subordinating and coordinating conjunctions.

ELA7-Third Period:  Comma Quiz on Thursday.  Review your comma rules books ad don’t forget to complete the Comma Rules Identification worksheet for homework if you didn’t finish it in class today.  See Ms. Tansey’s blog as well for more information.

It was a busy day at Dickerson Middle School !

ELA6 Second Period:  Today we finished the narrative called “Circuit ” and we began to write our own ending to this story.

ELA7 Period Three with Ms. Figueiredo– Today we watched a video presentation on text structure and did a gallery walk to identify the text structure of various articles.  We also identified types of hooks that can be used in expository writing.  There will be a test of knowledge regarding expository writing on ThursdayBe sure to go to Ms. Figueiredo’s blog and do the quizzizs!  Codes are all available.  Review your cloze notes for Expository writing.  Check with me tomorrow for my copy of the notes.

ELA6 Period Four with Mr. Holmquist– Today we worked on Vocabulary pictionary in preparation for our Vocabulary test tomorrow.  We also worked in pairs to write the second body paragraph of an expository essay.  Remember to visit Mr. Holmquist’s blog for study materials for the Vocab Test.  

ELA7 Period Five with Ms. Tansey–  Today we reviewed the essential elements of a body paragraph by marking important details on a sample paragraph.  Review your expository notes for a test on Thursday Visit Ms. Tansey and Ms. Figueiredo’s blog for extra study materials.  See me tomorrow for notes to supplement your own!

ELA7 Period Six – Today we complete the plot diagram for The Dinner Party.  We began to work on information about the characters in the story.

ELA6- Period 2 Today we worked on placing punctuation in dialogue in preparation for a dialogue writing assignment.  We reviewed the rules for commas with speech tags, rules for quotation marks and applied these to practice sentences.

ELA7- Period 3 with Ms. Figueiredo:  Today we worked on cloze notes about Writing Expository Essays.  If you did not do your flashcards, be sure to get those done tonight.  See my blog post from November 4, 2019 for more information or check Ms. F’s blog.

ELA6-Period 4 with Mr. Holmquist:  If you have not finished reading ” President Cleveland Where Are You?” please go to Mr. Holmquist’s blog and follow the link to the PDF copy.  You need to have this completed tomorrow to finish your graphic organizer.  We will be writing a constructed response with the information that you select from the story, so finish it tonight!

ELA7 -Period 5 with Ms. Tansey:  Today we worked on CLOzE notes about Writing Expository Essays.  If you were absent on Monday, make sure that you complete the article Writing Expository Essays from NEWSELA.
