Class Notes

  • We are still seeing a variety of illnesses at school. Please keep your student home if they are running a fever, have an upset stomach or appear to be ill in other ways. When they are not feeling well, they are not going to be able to do their best at school and may spread germs to other students. Thank you!

Important Dates

  • 1/22: Library visit and check out books
  • 1/24: All Pro Dads 7am Cafe

IB Unit 4: How We Organize Ourselves: 5 Senses and Health/germs

ELA:

  • Students will learn about the 5 senses and keeping germ free.
  • Phonics: “ee” and “ea” pattern, silent e (changes vowel sound) ex: pin – pine
  • Sight words: List B students should recognize 50 sight words by the end of 3rd quarter- come, get, find, was, each.
  • Read every night and practice sight words!

Writing:

  • Extend writing using phonetic spelling and sight words.
  • Informational writing about Germs and the 5 senses

Math:

  • Count on from a given number- not 1
  • Finding patterns on a 100 chart
  • Finding ways to take apart and make numbers to 5.

Third quarter is now upon us, can you believe it?! The Teasley Attendance Team wants to reward those students who come to school on time every day. Students who have perfect attendance at the end of the quarter, ending on Friday, March 13th, will receive a free dress down day, surprise treat, and 1 entry into the end of the year drawing for a BRAND NEW BIKE! Students who have perfect attendance for the entire school year will also get to participate in an end of year celebration during the last week of school. Thank you so much for your support with getting your students to school on time every day.

Congratulations  to our students who earned perfect attendance for quarter 2!!!

Class notes:

  • Kindergarten 100 Day Celebration will be on Friday January 17. Please see the letter uploaded above and also coming home on Monday about guidelines for making a 10 Day T Shirt.
  • Students can wear their class field trip shirts with regular bottoms on Thursday for our Fire Safety Presentation.

IB Unit 6: How We Express Ourselves: New Years

ELA:

  • New Year’s: students will set a goal for something that they want to work on during the second half of the year. Squirrels New Year: what is a resolution? Scholastic Weekly: New Years Celebrations Around the world and winter holidays. We will also read to compare and contrast The Hat and The Mitten.
  • Phonics: introducing the silent “e”.
  • Sight words: List B- students should recognize 50 sight words by the end of 3rd quarter) DOWN, ARE, THIS, LOOK, FOR
  • Writing:
  • Extend writing using phonetic spelling and sight words.
  • Write to tell about their holiday and their goal for the New Year.

Math:

  • Count on from a given number- not 1
  • Finding patterns on a 100 chart
  • Finding ways to take apart and make numbers to 5. This week we will learn to use a Rekenrek.
