I hope that you all enjoyed some relaxing family time this break. I miss your children’s sweet faces and look forward to seeing them tomorrow.

Third quarter is now upon us, can you believe it?! The Teasley Attendance Team wants to reward those students who come to school on time every day. Students who have perfect attendance at the end of the quarter, ending on Friday, March 15th, will receive a free dress down day, surprise treat, and 1 entry into the end of the year drawing for a BRAND NEW BIKE! Students who have perfect attendance for the entire school year will also get to participate in an end of year celebration during the last week of school. Thank you so much for your support with getting your students to school on time every day.

Congratulations to Hayden and Carter for perfect attendance this quarter!!

A look at last week:

Sight Words:   *Students are expected to know 25 sight words by December.

If your child already recognizes these sight words ask them to practice writing them in sentences using their phonetic spelling, for ex: We r (are) on the bot (boat)

*Students should be practicing their sight words every night for a few minutes. These important words will help your child with their reading and writing.

Phonics: Focus:  reviewing letters and sounds. Making words using the word families: -at, -ag, -ap (ex fat, cat bag, flag)

*Students are expected to identify 52 letters and produce 23 consonant sounds …Keep Practicing. You are doing great!

Reading:

Read Aloud: We will be reading books about family traditions and celebrations and sharing Family celebrations projects.

Writing:

  • Drawing, labeling, stretching out words to be able to write the beginning, ending, and middle sounds.
  • Every Monday we do a narrative write about our weekend.
  • Students will be writing to share what is unique about their families and how they celebrate.

Math:

  • Count to 100, counting on from a given number to anther number, numbers “before” and “after” a given number
  • Comparing numbers within 10: greater than, less than, equal to. We will also introduce the <, >, = symbols (we use the alligator: he faces the greater number and chomps it down. When the numbers are the same he does not know which to eat and turns into and equal sign)

*Continue to practice counting to 100 at home. Remember we are looking for consistency and accuracy.
