Monday – Wednesday, 9/18-9/20:

  • Work in lab 421 – Argumentative Photo Essay

LG: Create and present a photo essay expressing your perspective about an issue or topic of importance to you. Standards: ELAGSEW11-12.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas, concepts, and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content. ELAGSEW11-12.2a Introduce a topic or thesis statement; organize complex ideas, concepts and information so that each new element builds on that which precedes it to create a unified whole; including formatting, graphics, and multimedia when useful to aiding comprehension. ELAGSEL11-12.6 Acquire and use accurately general academic and domain-specific words and phrases, sufficient for reading, writing, speaking and listening at the college and career readiness level; demonstrate independence in gathering vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression.

 

Thursday, 9/21:

  • Grammar warm up
  • Photo essay presentations

  • Independent reading – novel for research – 8 quote cards due today

Independent Reading – LG’s for Research: Read/analyze to incorporate primary source quotes and begin to develop support for the thesis in my research paper. Identify evidence of literary techniques and structures as a basis for interpreting my research novel: CEI = Claim, Evidence, Interpretation. Standards: ELAGSE11-12RL2: Determine two or more themes or central ideas of text and analyze their development over the course of the text, including how they interact and build on one another to produce a complex account; provide an objective summary of the text. ELAGSE11-12RL10: Read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, independently and proficiently.
