Monday:  Forms of Business Ownership – Corporations – (S Corp, C Corp, LLC and Non Profits) – Lecture, Discussion and Notes – Finish Graphic Organizer – Board of Directors and Stockholders – Vocabulary for our Graphic Organizers – GMETRIX

Tuesday: Forms of Business Ownership – Group Activity – Sweet Opportunities – Students will be given scenarios and they will decide which form of business ownership is most appropriate for the scenario – Ownership Factors Study Guide – GMETRIX

Wednesday: Franchises – Franchise Word Map – We will watch some videos about franchising in America – Venn Diagram for Franchising vs. Business Opportunities – GMETRIX

Thursday: Franchises – Introduction to Franchise Project – Summative Grade – Students will have two full class periods to complete. Anything not  complete will be due on Monday at the beginning of class (they may take it home over the weekend for completion).

Business Concepts, Presentation Skills, Organizational Charts, Management Levels and Vision Statements

For all business students, you should check the BLOG at the beginning of the week. I try and post my plans for the week by Monday morning. I will use this blog to post PowerPoints from class notes and to remind you of upcoming projects and assessments.

Monday:  Vision/Mission Statements and Restaurant Simulation – Vision and Mission statements for HEINZ, General Motors, Nike, Wal-Mart – What do they look like? What purpose does a vision/mission statement serve? Create a vision/mission statement for your restaurants – Reading business tables – Let’s talk about the quiz on Wednesday which covers: org charts, presentation skills, powerpoint notes, management levels, business concepts and vision statements – GMETRIX modules 4,5,6 are due today for a formative grade. Modules 7,8,9 will be due on November 13th.

Tuesday: Forms of Business Ownership –  Graphic organizer creation – We will create a table to use as a business ownership activity sheet – PowerPoint and Guided Notes on Sole Proprietorships and Partnerships – Lecture and discussion – Review for quiz tomorrow.

Wednesday:  Unit 3 Quiz and Business Ownership –  Quiz – Ethical Dilemmas activity – remainder of time will be spent on GMETRIX

Thursday: Forms of Business Ownership –  –  Corporations – PowerPoint and Notes – Better Than Butter Popcorn Company – Boards of Directors, Shareholders, Types of Corporations, Comparison of Forms of Business Ownership – Corporations Research Activity

Friday: Forms of Business Ownership –  Groups of 4 – Sweet Opportunities Project and Poster – Finish your Corporations Research Activity from yesterday – Creating Forms in Microsoft Word

Business Concepts, Presentation Skills, Organizational Charts, Management Levels and Vision Statements

Monday:  Public Speaking/Personal Vision Statements – What scares you the most about public speaking? Let’s practice 🙂 – Two minute presentations on the topic of your choice (finishing up)– We are going to listen to a couple of famous speeches in history (Martin Luther King and Nolan Ryan) as we evaluate pitch, intonation, volume, grammar, etc… – You will evaluate using a rubric handout as you listen – We will discuss personal vision statements and creating a statement for your life. Any extra time should be spent on Microsoft Certification. Modules 4, 5, and 6 are due on Friday, October 20th.

Tuesday: Organizational Charts –  Use of organizational charts in a corporation – Purpose? – We will draw some simple organizational charts and then use SmartArt Hierarchy to create some more complex org charts. You will complete an assignment on organizational charts for a formative grade. Any extra time should be spent on Microsoft Certification. Modules 4, 5, and 6 are due on Friday, October 20th.

Wednesday:  Business Mission and Vision Statements – Visualize your future activity – Company vision and mission statements – Part Two of personal vision statement assignment. Vision and Mission statements for HEINZ, General Motors, Nike, Wal-Mart – What do they look like? What purpose does a vision/mission statement serve? Any extra time should be spent on Microsoft Certification. Modules 4, 5, and 6 are due on Friday, October 20th.

Thursday: Microsoft Word Lessons/Restaurant Simulation –  Creating Forms in Microsoft Word – A look at templates in Microsoft Word – Announcement of Quiz on Tuesday, October 24th that covers Unit 3. Any extra time should be spent on Microsoft Certification. Modules 4, 5, and 6 are due on Friday, October 20th.

Friday: GMETRIX/Restaurant Simulation –  Microsoft Certification –  Any extra time should be spent on Microsoft Certification. Modules 4, 5, and 6 are due on Friday, October 20th.  (TODAY)

Wednesday:  PSAT – The PSAT will be given this morning (school- wide), so we will not be having class today.

Thursday: Restaurant Simulation –  Today is an Early Release Day so we will only have class for one hour. We will discuss Press Releases – What are they and why do businesses use them? We will look at examples of Press Releases and create a Press Release for our Restaurant Business.

Friday: GMETRIX –  Microsoft Certification
