We have had another wonderful week! I have enjoyed meeting with you each of you to talk about your child’s progress. We will be continuing our theme of feelings next week! The book of the week will be The Little Old Lady Who Isn’t Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams. The vocabulary words are: old, lady, gloves, white, black, cottage, whispered, nod and crow. The letter of the week will be N, shape is oval and color is pink.
Remember October 31 we will have a class party! Parents are welcome to join and it will be begin at 8:30. Also November 14, will be celebrate families lunch! Next is Red Ribbon week we will be making class poster for the contest.

We had a great week last week! Remember this week is Conference week. We are starting our feelings unit this week also. Our book this week is Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses. The vocabulary words are: grumpy, toad, sunglasses, mad, squirrel, turtle, frustrated, happy, sad, alligator, and owl. We will doing a letter review this week and the shape is diamond and the color orange.

This week is also the book fair! We went to the book fair last week and filled out our wish lists.
I can’t believe its already October! We had a fun week after break. We learned about the parts of an apple. We even tried different types of apple to find it which one everyone liked most, and it was a tie between red delicious and fuji apples! Next week we will continue to learn about fall! The book will be Harvest Party by Jennifer O’Connell. The vocabulary words will be: farmer, clothes, barn, key, taste, pumpkin, corn, and flowers. The letter of the week will be lowercase a. The shape will be Diamond, and the color will be Orange.

We had a fantastic week! We continued our theme of farm. Today for our fun Friday, we played candyland, play doh and we made a Mystery Mess. When we return from fall break we will continue the theme of farm and fall. Our book for that week will be Ten Red Apple by Pat Hutchins, the letter will be uppercase A, we will be doing a shape review, and the color will be yellow. I hope everyone enjoys their fall break!
Here are some fun activities to do with your child over fall break:
- You can make your own sensory bins. Get a large plastic bin and fill is with almost anything! ( rice, corn, beans, oats,cloud dough, or sand are just few) Then add in different size cups or containers.
- You can go on a color or shape hunt around your house or neighborhood.
- Make a necklace out of dried pasta ( you can dye it different colors)
- Cut an apple and talk about the parts of an apple (we will also do this a class)!
- Make your own sink or float activity ( put water in a bowl or tub, and find different things throughout your hose to see if they will sink or float in the water)

I am glad everyone was safe during the storm. We had a wonderful week! We had our first guest reader this week, Mr. Zhou. He came and read two books to the class and also brought in different vegetables for the students to look at! Tonight is the Fall Festival from 5:30-7:30 and I hope to see some of you there. Next week we will continue our theme of Fall/Farm. The book we will be reading this week is I Know a Wee Piggy by Kim Norman. The vocabulary words are : white, yellow, purple, brown, red, green, black, pink, mud, in, egg, and scarf. Since, this was a short week we will continue to learn about the letter H, color: brown and the shape rectangle.

We had a fun time learning about transportation. Today we did boat races! Next week starts our farm/fall unit. We will be reading the book Stuck In the Mud. The vocabulary words are: stuck, mud, hen, cat, dog, sheep, chick, farmer, in and jump. The letter or the week will be H, the shape will be rectangle, and the color will be yellow. The social skill will be help solve a problem.
We now have started to combine both pre-k classes in the afternoon for academic center time. This help prepare our rising kindergartens with both academic skills and socail skill!

The first month of school has flown by! We are having such a fun time at school. I have changed the classroom schedule to better fit for therapy times. This upcoming week we will continue our theme of transportation. The book we will be reading is My Truck is Stuck by Kevin Lewis. The vocabulary words for this week are: Dump Truck, Car, hole, pulls, rolls, helps and down. Our letter of the week will be lowercase e. For math we will focus on the color green and the shape triangle. The social skill we will be working on is helping others.

We had another fantastic week! The students loved the book this week. They had a lot fun choosing which animal to play in the story. Next week our story will be Old MacDonald Had a Truck by Steve Goetz. The vocabulary words will be: dig, push, smash, rake, bulldozer and cement mixer. The letter of the week will be E. The social skill for the week is Play by the rules.
Remember next Wednesday, August 30th is Early Release. Students who are half day will be released at 10:30 and full day students at 12:10 make sure to have arrangements for your child. If your arrangements are different than usual please let me know.
