Today is “Pick Up Supplies Day”… the bin is there now and is located near the front of the office.
It has been a short week, but filled with lots of learning! I know digital learning has been tough on all of us… but I think our class is doing AWESOME! I am very proud of the work the students are doing and I am enjoying our daily interaction. I can’t wait to meet them all in person!
Next week we will continue to focus on proper nouns as well as character response in a text (problem/ solution). We will be counting up and back using a number line in math for addition and subtraction within 20. We will continue to focus on blends in phonics and matter in science. In small reading groups we will continue our book studies… please move the plans up a day… meaning do Tuesday’s work on Monday before group time. (I made a mistake with the days due to the short week! : ( )
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Good Morning Hippos! We made it to FRIDAY!
We had an amazing week of digital learning! I know the system was glitchy at times but we’ve been told the county is consistently working on those issues. I promise that in the future I won’t be sending so many emails. There is just a lot of information rolling out (you should see my inbox!). I want to make sure we are all on the same page.
Open house for 2nd grade is on Monday August 24th at 6:00pm. This is where I will go over curriculum, classroom information and share some updates for digital learning. It will be virtual through zoom and I will record the session if you cannot attend. I will send out the link on Monday.
Please fill out this survey if you have any questions so I can prepare for Monday. Many of you may have the same questions, and this will allow me to answer them efficiently during Open House. If you have a specific question or concern about your child, message me privately and we can talk at a later date.
On Wednesday August 26th we will have a supplies pick up from 10am-2pm. There will be bins with each teacher’s name on it. These supplies will be paper/pencil activities and any materials that were ordered through PTA. If you did not pick up items in the spring from 1st grade, they will be there as well. We will be doing these pick-ups weekly so that students can have hands on materials. If you cannot pick up during that time frame let me know.
I have loved getting to know the kids, reading one on one with them, and seeing their smiling faces! They are doing an amazing job and we are creating a positive digital classroom community. You all have been so supporting and understanding during this journey. Thank you!
Welcome to 2nd Grade!
I am excited about this year and look forward to working with you and your child. We are going to have an awesome year together! We will start off online and hopefully be in the classroom as soon as it is safe to do so.
Please take a few minutes to carefully review the attached information. This information and letter contains some important information that you might find helpful in getting off to a great start!
Please make sure you have your supplies at home so that you will be prepared each day for your assignments. When we do come back to the classroom, please put your child’s supplies into a pencil box. We will not be sharing supplies.

Good Morning Hippos!
It is hard to believe that this is the last day of April… but it is! I hope everyone is hanging in there! I have seen some great work. Lots of students using strategies in math, writing complete sentences and doing some great writing, and progress in reading! Keep up the GREAT work!!
Tomorrow will be your “Finish Friday” so that you can catch up and do some extension activities, work with Happy Numbers, or read on Epic Books! You can always log on to Cobb Digital Library to get BrainPopJr., Bookflix, eBooks, etc.
We will Zoom at 10 am with a guest Story Parent. : ) SEE you then!
Good Morning Hippos! (I sure miss the class in unison saying… “Good Morning Mrs. Harrie!” )
Today in reading you get to choose which book(s) that you would like to read about amphibians from the assigned books. We are continuing to review triple digit addition and subtraction, along with analyzing student work. You are continuing to add facts and details to your animal informational writing, I can’t wait to see which animals you choose and what you learned about it!
Lots of great feedback from the extra math practice site. (Happy Numbers) It is a great site and individualizes instruction for each student.
Have a great day of learning!
Good Morning Hippos! Great SEEING everyone yesterday! We will Zoom again on Thursday with a parent reader and catch up!!
This week you will be reading about amphibians, reviewing triple digit addition and subtraction as well as analyzing student work, plus researching and writing an informational piece of writing on an animal of your choice. I’ve included an extra fun math site… Happy Numbers to help you with math and videos to help you go farther with animal life cycles.
Target Tuesday students …follow their Target teacher’s instructions… but of course, you are welcome to complete Hippo work as well. (You will need to catch up with the writing tomorrow.)
Have a wonderful day of learning!!
Good Morning Hippos! I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather on Saturday. I sure loved seeing Good Morning Hippos! I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather on Saturday. I sure loved seeing the sunshine!
I found a great new math site that I have included in this week’s work (Happy Numbers). It has the students do a math placement first and then starts them off with what they need. As they progress, the program will individualize the instruction for each student.
We will ZOOM at 10 am to catch up! Hope to SEE you!
