This week students will practice utilizing sensory details and figurative language in their narrative journal writings. I will collect their journal entries and begin conducting writing conferences with each student on Thursday and Friday.

In addition, students are to complete the assignments entitled “Spelling”, “Editing” and “Revising” in Study Island. I will take these assignments as formative grades. Remember your usernames and passwords are taped on the inside of your ISN.

Students are reading different types of oral traditional literature, such as myths, fairy tales, legends, fables, and folk tales. Today, students read two culturally different fairy tale versions of Cinderella and utilized a Venn Diagram and Comprehension Chart to document similarities and differences between both fairy tales. The Venn diagram and Comprehension Charts will be collected for class work grades.
