Reading: We have been very busy reading many fall, Halloween, and pumpkin books!  Some of our favorites:  Pumpkin faces, The Little Old Lady Who was Not Afraid of Anything, The Monster of the Woods, and of course Room on the Broom.  We are really working hard to learn new vocabulary, sequencing, and of course digging into the details of a story.
Math: Counting by tens to 100, counting to 100 by ones. Please keep working on this! Students are expected to be able to count to 100 without help by the end of this 9 weeks (December)
Writing: Informational writing using first, next, last.
Theme: Day and night sky.
THANK YOU for a wonderful Spider Tea Party! Thank you to the wonderful moms and dads who volunteered and  to the amazing families who donated supplies.

The school-wide Thanks-for-Giving food drive is up and running! You can send your donations in with your student and we will get it to the collection bin. The goal is 15,000 items to help feed many needy families in the area! It’s such a great lesson for kids about generosity and thankfulness!
It was a real bummer that our field trip to Still Family Farms had to be canceled AGAIN, but the much-needed rain was nice. Once the kindergarten team makes a decision about a replacement field trip, we will let you know!

Reading:   This week we read:  Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse -we focused on retelling and sequencing the story details. Discussion of author and illustrator.
ELA: This week we focused on the letter Ff – letter sounds, correct formation when writing, words that start with F.  Please continue to work on recognizing letters (out of order) and sight words at home.  Each week we use the vocabulary builder (pictures with numbers) to use our sounds to write new words.  We are doing this as a group and the kids are doing a great job!
Math: Continuing to work on number recognition and writing 1-10; counting 1-20; sorting. Please continue to practice counting at home.
Writing: Continuing to write personal narratives in our writing journals. These are usually “I see…,” “I like…,” and “I can…” sentences, matching their drawing.

The Boosterthon Champathon Dance party was a blast!  We had the best time dancing around!  Thanks to everyone who helped us reach our goal!
