Welcome to Modern Mythology and Film

October 23-27, 2017

Each day in class you will be reading your group’s designated chapters and page numbers.  Each group member will be working on their assigned literature circle role for that week.

Each Friday, you will receive 2 grades.  One for the handout that contains your individual, completed lit circle work.  One for your participation in Friday’s discussion.

***If you are ever going to be absent on a Friday, you will need to turn your lit circle work in Thursday.  Be aware that you will receive a 0 for not being present to participate in your group’s discussion.

Museum due dates in order of novel:

December 6 – Book 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
December 7 – Book 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
December 8 – Book 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
December 11 – Book 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
December 12 – Book 5: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
December 13 – Book 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
December 14 – Book 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

  2. Lit Circle Group Meeting #1
    • Groups will delegate roles for the next meeting
    • Chapters/Page Numbers should be divided for the entire novel and recorded in the packet

 

 




August 28-September 1

Begin Hobbit Trilogy with study of modern film and how the Lord of the Rings came to be.

  • By Friday September 1st, have your Lord of the Rings novel with you to begin literature circles.

We will focus on the Heros Journey and archetypes found in modern mythology and film based on research from Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung.
