October 23rd, 2017

-The canned food drive starts this week. Please send in non-perishables to help those in need.

-We will going on our first Community Based Instruction trip Wednesday, Oct. 25th at 10:00-12:30.  We are excited to be visiting the Pumpkin Patch and plan to get some good fall pictures, explore the patch, and have a picnic. Please make sure that your child dress comfortably.  They will have mini pumpkins that they may purchase if you’d like.

-Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 30-Nov. 3.  I will let you know our dress code for this week.

-We will have a Halloween social with our Friends Club buddies on Oct.31.

-The School Dance is October 27, 2017 from 6-8.


What we are working on this week:

Math-We are working on addition and subtraction with regrouping, 5th grade is working on adding and subtracting with decimals.

Writing-We are working on our personal narratives.

Reading-Imprvoving our skills through the READ 180 & System 44 software.

This week in math we will be working on addition and subtraction! 5th grade will continue work with mastering decimals. In writing we will be finishing our unit one narrative! Reading, we will continue to work on System 44 and Read 180!

Please remember to continue working on 20 minutes of First in Math and 20 minutes of reading every night! Make sure the students are logging those reading times!


Week of September 18th

  • Friday, September 22 is hat day for $1

What we are learning in the classroom:

  • Reading: Working through Module 1 for Read 180/System 44.
  • Writing: Working on the writing process this week.
  • Math: Students are working on comparing numbers, ordering numbers, and rounding numbers. We are also introducing decimals and fractions through a model.
  • Social Studies: For 5th grade Civil War day is Friday, September 22!

Week of 9/05

In Math we will continue working on place value in all three grade levels.

In Writing, we will be working on opinion writing, the parts of speech, and continue working on creative writing.

Don’t forget to keep up the 20 minutes of reading and 20 minutes of First In Math every night! The students are now logging their minutes on biblineasium.

Week of 8-21-2017

Big Shanty and the Solar Eclipse –  Monday Aug. 21 Students who do not return their completed permission slips will participate in a virtual viewing in the learning commons. Parents who choose to check their children out early on Monday are asked to pick up students by 1:30 pm. There will not be any student pick up after 1:30 pm. The school buses will leave the school at 3:05 pm on Monday. Thank you for your support of these special plans! We believe the children will have a day full of excitement and fun!

Week of 3/13/2017


  • Monday—Make a Difference Monday—bring a reusable water bottle—not a plastic bottle (like Dasani)–and get a homework pass
  • Tuesday—Wear Your Green— either a green colored shirt or green-themed shirt. Teachers will be encouraged to lower the lights throughout the school in conservation awareness.
  • Wednesday—Wear your Waste—each child will collect their trash for the day in individual Kroger bag and sort at end of day into recyclable and actual trash—graph your tally in your classroom
  • Thursday—Tip your hat to recycling—students may wear hats made of recycled material (not traditional hat day).
  • Friday—Ferns, Flowers and Photosynthesis— planting in the classroom (students should collect a milk carton-like container throughout the week to use as their planter).

  • Wednesday, March 15th:  Yearbook orders due ($35)
  • Friday, March 17th:  St. Patrick’s Day Dance (2:30 -3:30)  Cost is $5 (includes frozen yogurt and toppings).
  • Thursdsay, March 23rd:  Report cards go home
  • Friday, March 24th:  3rd Nine Weeks Eagle Awards



-4th and 5th Grade will begin working on multiplying fractions and improper fractions this week! They have done an excellent job with adding and subtracting fractions and I think we will have similar results with multiplying them.

-3rd Graders will be reviewing everything we have learned about fractions this 9 weeks and continue to work on plotting fractions on a number line.

Week of February 27th

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing break!

Important Dates:

March 2nd- Read Across America Day, the school will have a variety of activities throughout the day. Little Eagle chorus will also begin at 2:30 after school.

March 3rd- School Talent Show 6:30 pm. There might be a teacher surprise!

In math all week we will continuing working on fractions! This week we will be working on equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions. We will also continue work on two-step word problems and long division with remainders in 4th and 5th grade.
