Fire Safety

We learned:

  • Stop, drop, and roll in case you are on fire and crawl to safely exit a smoke filled area.

  • All families should have fire drills at home so that we all know what to do in an emergency and where to meet if we are separated.

  • Firemen in their gear can look and sound scary but they are there to help us get to safety.

Important dates:

  • Library Visit– check out new books- Tuesday September 19
  • Willy’s Spirit night – Tuesday September 19 from 5-8 pm
  • Show and Tell! – Friday September 8- letters O, P, Q
  • Please return permission slip and money for Party Animals if you have not already done so.
  • Fall Break- September 25-29.
  • October 12- early release- professional development.
  • Conference week- early release- October 16-20.

What we are working on:

ELA:

  • Reading: We are going to be studying characters for the next 3 weeks. What can you learn about a character by what he/she says, does, thinks, or feels?
  • Phonics: Oo, Pp, Qq  letter sound and correct formation; rhyming words; number of words in a sentence
  • Sight words: at, see, he, do

Math:

  • Counting to 100
  • Counting strategies, counting to answer “how many?”
  • 3D shapes: name and describe 3 D shapes (cone, sphere, cube, cylinder) their position (above, below, beside, in front of, behind, next to)
  • Analyze 3 D shapes: be able to compare and contrast shapes: edges, vertices, and faces.

Writing:

  • Continuing to learn about narrative writing: drawing, labeling, writing sentences

Science:

  • Sort and group animals by observable physical attributes.
  • Recognize the similarities and differences between animal parents and their babies.

  • Analyze 2 D/3D shapes: be able to compare and contrast shapes: sides, vertices

  • Continuing to learn about narrative writing: drawing, labeling, writing sentences

  • Sort living and nonliving organisms by observable physical attributes.

  • Party Animals: please send permission and payment by September 15.
  • Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Coming to school every day on-time is a key ingredient to student success. The Teasley Attendance Team wants to reward those students who come to school ready to learn and on time every day. Any student who has perfect attendance through the end of the 1st 9 weeks, Friday, October 6th, will receive recognition for their attendance. These students will receive a free dress down day, a surprise treat, and their pictures will be featured on the WWTN news broadcast. Students who have perfect attendance for the entire school year will be invited to a special celebration during the last week of school to praise their commitment to their education. Thank you for your support in getting your student to school every day! (no tardies)
  • Teasley is partnering with the NFL and their PLAY60 campaign to host Back to Football Friday on September 8th. Students will participate in football related games and activities during their specials time and we would LOVE your help. Volunteers are welcomed and appreciated.
