Decorating Cupcakes for our Bells Ferry Foundation!

Three wonderful students won the opportunity to decorate cupcakes with Mrs. Nelson & Dr. Goff in our Bells Ferry Foundation Silent Auction.  Everyone had a great time learning some new culinary skills!!

Third Grade Author Celebration

We are gearing up for our Author Celebration on Dec. 18th at 8:00am!  Third grade parents, you are invited to come and see the research your children have been doing that morning!  We hope you can make it.  Here are some pictures of your children busy working on their final published books!!

Turbo visits!

Our students were treated to a visit from Turbo, Dr. Goff’s bearded dragon.  The kindergartners practiced asking questions as they sought to learn more about Turbo.  The third graders enjoyed discussing specific facts and terms about lizards as an example for their animal research writing project.  Everyone enjoyed the visit!

Character Dress Up Day!

Miss Nelson and Miss Viola Swamp were teaching our ESOL students at Bells Ferry today!  We enjoyed reading about these two fun characters.  The students said they look forward to seeing Mrs. Nelson and Dr. Goff back in class soon!

FALL FESTIVAL at BELLS FERRY ES

Bells Ferry Families,

We cannot wait to see you all at our 2018 Bells Ferry Fall Festival THIS SATURDAY, October 27th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

There will be games, crafts, face painting, snow cones, trunk or treat, a costume contest and MORE!  We cannot wait to see you there!

4th Grade Cooperative Groups: Planets & Stars!

The fourth graders have been working hard reading several science passages about space.  They have been learning new science concepts, academic vocabulary, and reading comprehensions strategies.  One of the culminating activities of this unit of study was a cooperative group project in which the students created a stars and planets anchor chart.  Here are some pictures of the students in action:

ESOL Professional Development

Mrs. Nelson attended an outstanding training with the authors of Differentiating Instruction and Assessment for English Language Learners: A Guide for K-12 Teachers.  The strategies learned will be shared with our ESOL Team to make our instructional practices even better!  (Mrs. Nelson is pictured below with the authors Dr. Shelley Fairbairn & Stephany Jones-Vo.)
