Summer Reading is an important way for students to maintain what they have learned. It is important for our students to continue to increase their reading levels even when they are away from school. Studies have shown that reading 4 to 12 books over the summer break can help students retain what they have learned. For this summer, students at Tapp should read at least four books over the summer. Cobb County School District has again teamed up with the Cobb County Public Library and Scholastic Books to encourage reading. Students will log their minutes into www.scholastic.com/summer/ each day. As students read more minutes, they will win rewards on the website and unlock ebooks written by some of their favorite authors. Students may also write a book review to turn into the Cobb County Public Library. They would like to display some of the reviews like they did last year. The review form can be found on www.cobbcat.org/summer-reading-program/
If your student has misplaced their login information please contact me at [email protected] and I will give you the information. If your child is in 6th grade next school year please contract your public library or contact Scholastic at 1-800-SCHOLASTIC. This years students will be provided with a reading log that they should fill out and return to the school in the fall with a parent’s signature.
