Happy October!

October2

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a great Fall Break!!

The month of September flew by with testing, hurricane days, and fall break!

This week I will be checking your child’s progress in reading comprehension, fluency, and sight words. Please continue to read nightly! Also, take time to have your child retell the story. This is a great way to build comprehension skills. Keep practicing those sight words. Our goal is 75 words by this Friday, Oct. 6th.

In Math, we are working on our Measurement unit. We are ordering 3 objects from smallest to largest and creating comparison statements based on their measurement. Ex. The fork is longer than the spoon but shorter than the knife.

In Social Studies, we are starting our Personal Finance unit. We will be talking about the differences between Wants vs. Needs. We will also learn about producers and consumers plus develop an understanding of scarcity. Hopefully when we are finished, we will have a group of future money savers!

We are wrapping up our Narrative writing unit this week. We have focused on writing small moment stories from our lives. I look forward to sharing some of these stories at conferences.

Conference notes will come home on Tues., Oct. 3rd. Please check your child’s conference time and let me know if the day and time work for you. We have tried to schedule sibling conferences back to back for your convenience. If your time does not work, please send me a couple of days and times that work better for you.

Library Day is on Thursday. Please return all books by Thursday morning.

Have a great week and enjoy this beautiful fall weather!
