Week of Nov. 6th – 10th

There is no school tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 7th due to the teacher work day!

This week we will continue our work with non-fiction texts. Our focus is to understand the points an author is making in a text and find the supporting reasons.

In Math we are working on solving for a missing addend in equations and in word problems. Some examples are 5 + ___ = 8,  ___ – 6 =9,  12 – ___ = 4. Please encourage your child to practice missing addends at home. The subtraction ones are a little harder!

Our unit test on Thomas Jefferson is on Wed., Nov. 8th. A study guide came home with your child today. We will review before the test one more time. After the test, we will be moving on to our science unit on Magnets.

In writing, we will continue our work with writing How to’s and informational texts. In our writing, we are focusing on subject-verb agreement, using capitals at the beginning of sentences, and end punctuation. I encourage you to have your child practice writing at home with letters to friends, in a journal, or just a fun story. The more we write the better we will get!

The Fall Jamboree is Friday, Nov. 10th from 5-8pm. Come on out and enjoy the fun!

Our class field trip to Kennesaw Mountain is next Wed., Nov. 15th. Please have your child wear their green class shirt, tennis shoes for lots of walking, and be sure to check the weather that morning.

Have a great week!
