Open House

Tonight, Thursday, August 9th is Pitner’s Open House. Open House gives you the opportunity to learn more about the classroom and learning expectations. I hope everyone will be able to attend! Open House will start at 6:00 pm with a short PTSA meeting and then we will promptly move to the classrooms. I look forward to seeing everyone. If you are not able to attend, I will send home any paper work in your child’s red folder on Friday.

Homework will start next week. The activities will support classroom learning and should only take your child about 10 minutes to complete. All Homework will not be due until Friday of each week.

We continue to work on our classroom procedures and expectations daily. Behavior sheets started coming home on Monday. Please check your child’s folder daily.

This week in Math we are focusing on counting to 120 from any given number. Today we had some fun building number lines with partners. We will use these number lines throughout the year for various math activities and games. Here are some pictures from math time today:

Welcome to First Grade

I am so excited for the start of another school year! It’s going to be an amazing year and I am looking forward to working with you and your child. My blog will keep you up to date on things we are learning in class, important events, and much more so don’t forget to check it often.

This year begins my 32nd year of teaching in Cobb County. I taught kindergarten for 15 years and this is my 17th year in first grade. How lucky am I to work at a job that is filled with lots of learning and fun everyday!

If you need to contact me, my email is [email protected] I will check my email a couple of times a day and get back with you as soon as possible!

Open House is Thursday, August 9th. I hope to see everyone there to learn more about first grade and our classroom procedures.
