Field Trip Madness

We have had two field trips recently and I wanted to share some of the fun we had!!!!

Up first:

VULCAN Rocked!!

We so enjoyed our trip down the road to Vulcan! We learned all about the cool stuff (like explosions!!!!) that they do in their rock quarry!

The quarry was so beautiful!!!

Kaylie shows me a beautiful geode that she found while looking at the rock displays.

I should have specified that I wanted a NORMAL picture first…

Colonial Life In-School Field Trip

Later this year we’ll be learning all about the 13 colonies. As a pre-learning treat, the Bartow County Library came out to show us what life was like in the colonies! Specifically, we got to play with TOYS that kids in the colonies would have played with too!!!!!

Our presenter even wore colonial clothing!!!

Maura loved playing with the cup and ball toy!

Malachi and Calvin loved playing with the Jacob’s ladders!

Ayezah used her best aim to get the clothespin in the milk jug!

Christian got several tops going at once!

American Indian Culture Project

This week, students have one homework assignment. This will be to create a cultural item specific to a region of American Indians that we have studied the past month. It was my intention to do this project in class, however, the hurricane really threw us off. I’ve sent the assignment and rubric home, but I wanted to again attach this document on my blog so that you can access it should you lose it. Also, included in the attachment are websites showcasing each cultural artifact so that you can see some examples of what these objects looked like. Your child’s assigned item is in this document as well.

This project is due FRIDAY. We will present and students will be graded on their presentation on Friday, 9/22/17.
