WELCOME!!

It was so wonderful to meet all of you at Meet and Greet yesterday! I am so excited to have your child in my class this year and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Thank you parents for sending in school supplies and for filling out the forms. If you did not have a chance to fill everything out at school, please return to me ASAP. PLEASE make sure your child knows how he/she will be going home from school on the first day.  If you completed the purple Student Information form at Meet and Greet you do not need to write an additional note. If I did not get to meet you yesterday or you need to change the transportation choice, please send in a note with your child on Wednesday morning letting me know how they will get home and I will make sure they return to you safely! 🙂  I know you have a lot of forms to fill out at the beginning of the year, and I really do appreciate your time in filling everything out!
The students do have one homework assignment, though. If you were able to attend Meet and Greet there was a scrapbook page tucked inside the students’ purple folders. Please read the attached sheet for directions, but all we want the students to do is decorate the page with hand-drawn pictures, printed pictures, stickers, etc. to tell the other students in the class a little bit about themselves. We will compile all of the pages into one big scrapbook that the students will be able to look at and enjoy throughout the year. This is such a fun way to establish a friendly and fun classroom community from the get-go!
Please remember that school starts at 7:45 this year which is a little earlier than previous years. The school doors will open at 7:15 tomorrow morning and the students can head straight to our class to get unpacked and start working on some quiet morning work. Our specials/enrichment time this year is 8:10 to 8:55 and our lunch time is 11:22-11:52. Please note this lunch time as I made a mistake on the sheet you were given at Meet-n-Greet. We will be sitting at Table 4 in the Kincaid Cafe. We will be on a 6-day enrichment rotation schedule. Please check the back of your child’s purple folder for the specials schedule for the month of August.  I will send home a calendar in the back of the students’ purple folders each month with our specials rotation for each day. Students need to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days.
We will be having a parent night on Thursday, August 9 at 6:30pm in the classroom and I will be able to walk through all of the questions that you may have about second grade.  If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected] I check my emails frequently and should respond within 24 hours.

I can’t wait to see everyone on the first day of school! It is going to be a wonderful year in second grade!
