Here is what we will be learning this week:

Spanish

In reading, we will review different story elements.

We will review “monosilabas”.

High Frequency Words: atras (behind), maestro (to show), aunque (although), entonces (so)

Math

We will review addition and subtraction strategies.

Content

We will continue learning about plants. We will investigate the characteristics and basic needs of plants and identify the parts of a plant (root, stem, leaf, and flower).

Math

We will review equations with missing numbers.

Content

We will begin learning about plants. We will investigate the characteristics and basic needs of plants and identify the parts of a plant (root, stem, leaf, and flower).

High Frequency Words: pasado (past), orgullo (proud), vida (life), lugar (place), mitad (half)

Math

We continue learning about shapes and how to partition rectangles and circles.

Social Studies

We will discuss the historical figure George Washington Carver and how he was influenced by his time and place. We will describe how his everyday life was similar to and different from life in the present as well as identify his positive character traits.

We will continue building and drawing shapes with defining and non-defining attributes. In addition, we will interact with two dimensional and tri-dimensional shapes to create a new image.

We will finish learning about Ruby Bridges and how she was influenced by her time and place. We will identify her contributions to the American history and describe how her everyday life is similar to and different from everyday life in the present.

Spanish

We will distinguish between information provided by pictures  or other illustrations and information provided by the words in a text. Besides, we will review comprehension strategies.

We will be discussing words with “gla, gle, gli, glo, glu” and changing words by using the ending to “ota” (increase the size of the words in Spanish)

High Frequency Words: hoy (today), cerca (near), pronto (now), cuando (when), en vez (instead of)

Math

We will start learning about shapes. We will build and draw shapes with defining and non-defining attributes. In addition, we will interact with two dimensional and tri-dimensional shapes to create a new image.

Social Studies

We will be discussing words with “bla, ble, bli, blo, blu” and changing words to plural by adding ‘es”.

High Frequency Words: frente (front), importante (important), lograr (make it), proximo (next)

Math

We will review previously learned addition and subtraction strategies, including counting on, ten frame, number line, and drawing pictures. Additionally, we will continue discussing addition and subtraction word problems.

Social Studies

We will begin learning about our muscles. Students will identify the parts and major functions of the skeletal and muscular systems. Also, students will explain that exercise strengthens bones and muscles.
