Report Cards will be coming home on Wednesday. Please sign the envelope and return it to school. You are to keep the copy of the report card for your records. There will also be a copy of the sight words your child knows in the envelope. Please continue to work with them on the words they have not mastered yet. This is a very important part of learning to read as well as sounding out words.
Last week we had a wonderful time designing, building and writing about our leprechaun traps for St. Patrick’s Day. Attached are a few pictures of our creations. We didn’t catch one but we did have a great time and enjoyed some golden treats!
We will be learning about Spring and plants this coming week. We will also continue working with addition and subtraction as well.
This is Valentine’s Week and we have many fun learning activities planned. Please send in Valentine cards for your child to share with their friends. We have 14 students in our class. If you child brings cards they must have one for everyone in the class. We will be studying the letter Vv and continuing work on sight words. We are also adding and subtracting in math.
Our winter break is coming up Feb. 19th – 23rd. Enjoy your time off but please continue to read with your child and work on counting and sight words. The Variety Show and Math Night will be coming up in early March.
Hope everyone is doing well and adjusting to being back in school. This Tuesday a Writing Parent Academy 7:30-8:30 a.m. & 6-7 p will be held to help parents work with their children on writing.

It was great to see some of you the other night at STEM night. We all had a great time learning from the activities.
We are busy learning how to give our opinion about things and about Dr. Martin Luther King. We will be celebrating his birthday tomorrow in our classroom. Please continue to work with your child on sight word list.
Next Monday, January 22nd will be the 100 Day of School. We will do many activities where we practice counting to 100 by ones, five and tens. Please help your child collect 100 small items to bring to school that day to count. I will be sending home a Ziploc back to put the things in.
Hope everyone has had a safe and happy holiday. I am looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Thursday, January 4th. Please remember to wear your warm coat, hat and gloves this week.

Last week we enjoyed our Gingerbread Study. We read and compared Gingerbread themed books and as a writing activity we decorate a Gingerbread cookie and recorded the steps of how to eat it.
The end of the nine weeks is quickly approaching so please continue to work on letters and letter sounds, the sight word list and counting to 100 with your child. These are all standards that will be assessed this nine weeks.
I hope everyone has a fabulous and safe Thanksgiving break! There will be no school next week November 20-24.
We had a great time yesterday at our class play. I will post pictures soon so those that were not able to attend can see how great everyone looked.
Please take a few minutes throughout the week to practice counting to 100. A great time for counting is in the car. Continue to work on recognizing letters and saying the letter sounds.
We will be having our Thanksgiving Lunch and Play on November 16th starting at 11:50. Please plan to come and eat with your child and return to our classroom for the performance. The students are working hard to learn their parts and are very excited about sharing it with you. The invitation and lunch count paper are in the blue folder today.
Thank you to all the parents that were able to attend conferences last week. It was great to share all of the super work your child is doing.
