Class Update

Last week we enjoyed our Gingerbread Study.  We read and compared Gingerbread themed books and as a writing activity we decorate a Gingerbread cookie and recorded the steps of how to eat it.

The end of the nine weeks is quickly approaching so please continue to work on letters and letter sounds, the sight word list and counting to 100 with your child. These are all standards that will be assessed this nine weeks.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone has a fabulous and safe Thanksgiving break!  There will be no school next week November 20-24.

We had a great time yesterday at our class play.  I will post pictures soon so those that were not able to attend can see how great everyone looked.

Please take a few minutes throughout the week to practice counting to 100.  A great time for counting is in the car. Continue to work on recognizing letters and saying the letter sounds.

We will be having our Thanksgiving Lunch and Play on November 16th starting at 11:50.  Please plan to come and eat with your child and return to our classroom for the performance.  The students are working hard to learn their parts and are very excited about sharing it with you.  The invitation and lunch count paper are in the blue folder today.

Please save “Box Tops for Education” and send in by Oct. 27th.  Pink form in blue folder to fill out with the box tops.

Hope to see you at these upcoming events.  Enjoy your fall!

Check Backpack for GKIDS Readiness Report

Please check your child’s blue folder for the GKIDS Readiness Report. There is a yellow letter attached that explains the assessment. Look for the website in the letter where you can view videos and find activities to work at home with your child.  Every student in the state of Georgia took this readiness assessment.  If you have additional questions please email me and I will get back in touch with you.  [email protected]

Farm and Animal Week

I hope everyone is safe at home during the storm.

We will continue our work this week on animal mothers and babies. We will also work on the letter Mm. We will be continuing our work with 2D shapes and introduce 3D shapes. Below are some photos of our work with shapes last week. We had a great experience.

Things We Are Learning

We are off to a great start! We have been working on the letters Cc, Oo, and Aa, counting to 20 orally, counting objects to 10 and recognizing numerals 1-10. We have learned about the American Flag and the Georgia Flag and about different types of maps.  We will be studying about Labor Day and jobs as well as the letters Dd and Gg for the next two weeks. We will continue our work with numerals and counting.  Please review and help your child with these topics at home.

Welcome to Our Class

We are so excited to have new students join our class today. It was wonderful to meet parents last night at Open House. If you were not able to come last night please look in your child’s blue communication folder for handouts. We look forward to a great year ahead with you and your child.
