Learning for the Week

Reading: Informational Text Features (table of contents, captions, headings, bold words, etc.)

Writing: Research for Informational Writing

Math: Area (using arrays to help find the area of figures)



Please have students complete their blog post about Hispanic Heritage Day. Also, please allow students to begin to research their topic for writing. This could be on the internet, going to the library to find a book, interviewing a person, etc. Students should also be completing their Homework log. Don’t forget the Tiger Reading Challenge!


Early Release and Conferences

All next week will be early release for Conferences. Students will be released at 12:30. Please email me at [email protected] if you need to change your conference time. Please remember all transportation changes need to be made in writing.

Perfect Attendance and Book Fair

Congratulations to the following students who had PERFECT ATTENDANCE (0 absences and 0 tardies) for the 1st Quarter:










Thank you, parents, for getting your child to school on time every day!  Your child is allowed to dress down this Wednesday, October 11th and will receive a Chick-fil-A coupon for a free ice cream.  The count for the 2nd quarter is on and we would love to have at least half the class receive perfect attendance.


Book Fair

The book fair is coming! It will be held in the Media Center during conference week.
Visit the fair with your student or shop online.

Math Resources

Please be sure to check out the math page! We will be beginning Unit 3, so be sure to check out the parent letter! Also, a link to Cobb County’s math videos has been posted! This is a great resource for you!


Technology Updates

Students will be starting to use our class blog. The link is located on the main page. They will have assignments to complete in class, as well as blog posts for at home. Directions are in your child’s take home binder, as well as their password.


Students will be bringing home BYOD (Bring your own device) permission slips. Only students who return their permission slips will be allowed to use their personal devices. Please read the rules and guidelines carefully to determine if you will allow your child to bring their device. Students will be told what days to bring their devices. This information will be found in their agendas.

****All students will have access to technology even if they do not return the permission form.****


We will also be using Seesaw to upload examples of student work in the class. Please be sure to sign up for an account to view your child’s work and videos!



Please be sure logs are completed each night! Also remember to complete the Tiger Reading Challenge!



Please be sure you are sending a handwritten note if your student is absent. Thank you for your help in this matter!

We will begin to use Seesaw as a learning portfolio for your child. Directions for you to create an account have been sent to your email. They are also posted below as well! I can’t wait for you to use this great resource to see your child’s learning!

Learning for the Week

Reading: Review of skills and Reading Assessments

Writing: Review of Narrative and Preview of Informational Writing

Math: Rounding to 10s and 100s place (Students will also be assessed on 2 step word problems)

Science: Nutrition

Social Studies: Native Indians Assessment (students have a study guide), Types of Resources


Fall Break Homework

Students are to read each day and work on completing their Tiger Reading Challenge. For math, students have practice problems for 2 step word problems. These are due when they return on Monday (10/2). . The math key words and pencil can stay at home for your use! Students should also be studying their American Indian study guide. Test is 10/6.

Career Day

Parents – Our annual Career Day is coming up on Friday, October 20.  If you or someone you know can volunteer to present at Career Day please complete the attached form by Friday, October 6.  We look forward to having many of you participate.  If you have questions, please contact one of our school counselors!

Math Practice and Reminders

Students will be taking home today a math packet. This includes a parent letter, reference sheets, and a practice sheet that is due on 10/2. In math, we have been practicing addition and subtraction strategies, as well as 2 step word problems. These standards are review from 2nd grade. All of the reference pages are to be kept at home. The practice page is to be returned to school by 10/2. Students will be tested on these 2 standards after returning from fall break. Videos are being uploaded to the math page for your reference.


Please send in a paper towel roll by Friday for us to use for an American Indian craft. Also, t-shirt orders are due on Friday. Order form is below.
