For today’s assignments…

Math: Answer numbers 52-61 of the Math packet. Time permitting complete at least one lesson on Dreambox.

Reading/Writing: From the Writing packet, read the passages School Starts Too Early and Don’t Change then, answer the prompt. Time permitting, read for 20+ minutes.

Social Studies: Pick one of the studies weekly that came home on Friday. You will use this one for the entire week. Read a few sections of the newspaper each day. On Friday, answer the review questions or complete the activity on the back.

  1. Collect your own data on anything you want. It can be something around the house, outside, or asking about a “favorite” of your family members. Turn that data into a scaled picture graph!
  2. Write your own version of “how to draw a bunny”. If you do this one, I will follow your directions and draw it and send it back to you. That way, you will see if you were specific enough 😉

Helpful tips to writing the ending of a story:

Use the same point of view

The ending needs to make sense with the rest of the story

Include important characters

Don’t forget the setting

Time permitting, read for 20+ minutes.

  1. Write 5-8 of your own two-step word problems that include any of the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Solve them yourself first, but then get an older sibling or your parent to solve them, too.
  2. Have a parent or sibling make a quick scribble on a piece of paper. Then, you turn their scribble into a picture.

Math: Answer numbers 23-29 of the Math packet. Time permitting complete at least one lesson Dreambox.

Reading/Writing: From the Writing packet, read The History of Roller Skates and The Skates in the Closet and answer the prompt. This is an extended informational response, which means multiple paragraphs.

I would suggest setting your writing up like this:

introduction section,

paragraph comparing the two types of skates,

paragraph contrasting them,

conclusion section.

Social Studies: Continue to read a few sections of the newspaper from yesterday and Monday. Remember that on Friday you will answer the review questions or complete the activity on the back.

  1. It seems like we are getting yet another break from some rain today! Go outside, find a comfortable spot. Pick an animal or plant that you see and write an all-about paragraph about it. Be so descriptive that I can picture it exactly in my mind when I read it too.

Starting on Monday, 3/16, school will continue in an online setting. Attached you will find the reading, writing, and math assignments for the upcoming school days. Hard copies will also home today, 3/13. I will communicate daily about pages, passages, or numbers of questions I would like the students to complete. I will be available via email, at marissa.gaines@cobbk12.org, from 9:00-10:30am each day to help assist students and answer any questions that they, or you, may have.
