There will be one more clean out for the school year on Wednesday, May 23rd.
Spring is the season of growth, and the perfect time to celebrate how far your child has come as a reader! You can help your child continue to blossom as a reader by encouraging them to choose their own books! The lizards LOVE books! There are some great titles for summer reading, and second grade! Online orders can be made at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs
OUR CLASS CODE IS: J4PFY
The lizards have worked so hard, and they are so excited about Thursday’s wedding! The top portion of the RSVP form serves as your “ticket-in-the-door.” (It was on hot pink paper). Please let me me know if you need an extra. See you at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday for the wedding of the year!
If you’re up for a challenge, then please print, complete, and return to Miss L. before May 8th. If you want to try it and be a risk taker, then I’d love to see that too! 🙂
Ms. Alter, our computer lab instructor, asks that students practice their typing skills. Please practice typing for 10 minutes a day for 5 days a week. For 1st grade, students, she recommends Dancemat, a free typing lesson tutorial. Students need to learn how to use all 10 fingers when typing. If students practice incorrectly, it only creates a bad habit. To help our older students against this bad habit, she suggests using a towel over your hands. We try this is skill with grades 2nd and above, but some 1st graders enjoy this challenge. For these older students in the lab, students have skins over our keyboard when they practice typing. Dancemat is self-explanatory and the program tells you what you need to do. Once they have completed the lessons in this way to learn the keyboard and proper finger placement. Then they should do the lessons again and this time focus on the speed recommended by the program. You can find Dancemat and other typing tutorials on our computer lab webpage at http://www.eastsidetechnology.org/?page_id=28. Thanks for your help.
I’m looking forward to seeing all of the first graders perform! Please wear class t-shirt, and meet in our classroom by 5:45 p.m. See you tonight!
