East Side Elementary is proud to support the Kiwanis Circle K Club of Kennesaw State University and Georgia Highlands Paulding Campus to promote the America Reads program this year. America Reads Initiative is a federal program that allows KSU and GHC work study students to tutor elementary and middle school students in Paulding and surrounding counties who are in need. Please consider donating a gently used or new book, but please don’t put your child’s name in it. A note of encouragement about the joys of reading that is slipped between the pages of a book is most welcome. The book drive will run until November 30th. Boxes are placed by the cafeteria and gym doors.
Please check out the link to the teacher auction! I have donated several fun experiences for the lizards, and for lizard alumni. There are also tons of other fantastic items to bid on. We are so lucky to have such an awesome East Side Foundation!
*Math Night for Parents is tonight from 6-7 p.m. in the Media Center!
*Early Release is this Thursday!
*Book orders due www.scholastic.com (our class code is J4PFY)
September 22nd will be a school wide STEM day! Our assignment will be for each student to make their own arcade game. Your job at home is to collect boxes for your child to build and create with. The size does not matter. You may start to send in your boxes on September 18th. Please put your child’s name on the box. (There will be a lot of boxes!) You can also send in other items such as marbles, fair tickets, little trinkets for prizes, or what ever else you can think of. Please watch Caine’s amazing journey:
If your child would like to keep their game, you must pick it up by dismissal on the 22nd. Any game left after school will be deposed of.
We are so lucky to have such an incredible Foundation!
